Default Kinetix Cats Rattle

After I installed my Kinetix Cats, I began hearing a rattle (almost like a fast buzzing sound) once I reach around 4500 RPM and up. I have already used a pry bar and bent the heat shield above the cat on the driver side up so that there is around half an inch of clearance, but I'm still hearing this sound. Anyone have any thoughts? Would it be a bad idea to remove the heat shield completely?

Biggest difference is your feet will probably get hot, but I can't speak about damage to the underside of the car due to lack of protection

My feet already get too hot from the floor of the car, which, if you put your hand on the floor, is already quite warm. Removing the heat shields ain't gonna make the floor cooler...

Your car is broken then

YOu shouldn't be able to feel the feet on your feet, heat shields or not....this isn't a Viper running open-headers, lol.

I have kinetix cats with INJEN ses, and the floor does get warmer. If you put a hand on the carpet, you definitely feel a bit of an unnatural amount of heat. 350z engine runs HOT as hell

I never had any rattles though

After installing my Kinetix cats (heat shields in place) the transmission tunnel area of the floor is noticeably hotter.

To the OP, I’m not sure if the cats are positioned differently in relation to the heat shields on the driver and passenger sides, but why don’t you try bending out the passenger heat shield for more clearance? When I bent mine out slightly I did it to both sides, not just the drivers.

Where is the noise coming from? The passenger side or the driver side? What cat-back exhaust do you have?

It's definately not the heat shield. I took both of them off. btw, it doesn't seem any hotter inside. It sounds like it's coming from the engine bay. Do you guys think it could be the harmonics? or additional or less back pressure? No one else with Kinetix Cats has this problem?

Thanks!

I don't remember removing any heat shields. Keep in mind that there is stuff inside the catalytic converter. That may be the cause of the rattles and buzzing.

I picked up a rattle when I installed HFCs too. I have Random Technology Cats. I tracked down my problem to being a black metal piece at the rear. It was hitting the passenger side exhaust tip. I just used some zip ties to pull it away from the exhaust.
