Default What's the best exhaust system?

I've done a quick search on this and didnt really find an answer...so here goes...

What's the quietest exhaust system (or combinatations of exhaust, test pipes, front pipes, etc) w/o sacrificing performance gains?

I don't want to get hasseled by the cops so I'm looking for the best option...that yields the greatest of both worlds (gaining good tq and hp as well as being low key).

any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

The Stillen exhaust is a pretty good option for what you are looking for. Makes great (the best actually) hp/tq, looks pretty low profile, and sound is not too loud.

any changes in the exhaust system will make it louder. if you want a pretty quiet exhaust, go with NISMO or Fujitsubo, the sound is almost similar to stock unless you go past about 4K RPMS. you can forget about test pipes if you want to keep it low key, especially in SoCal.

I am considering the NISMO one too...

is it a restrictive exhaust compared to others like Stillen, hks, apex, etc?

I plan on going FI in the future.

APS 2.5' is QUIET and DEEP. If you're NA, w/ test pipes, it'll rasp and become very loud. I used to have it. I suggest it if your FI or if you're keeping stock cats. You'll deifnately notice a performance gain. Guestimate?? 7-15whp?

Love my Nismo also. If you don't plan on FI, it's a good choice.

I am sorry but there is no such thing. Study some exhaust theory 101, and I think that you will find a direct relationship between performance and noise.

I like my Fujitsubo exhaust. The tips are big, but the sound is very tasteful. I also have an aftermarket y-pipe which probably shapes the sound to some extent. Similar to the stock sound I suppose....but without all the ***** stock sound.

Fujitsubo Launch 1

Fujitsubo Launch 2

Fujitsubo Rev

The quality and fitment are great. Sound is tasteful. Price could probably be better.

Default Best exhause

And what about the new Greddy evo tt?I am the next guy who make the 760whp JWT TT building with my 350Z build from VRT.
Actually i used the 2.5APS exhaust, but i don,t know if the 2,75 inch Greddy evo TT isn,t better for our projekt. And i never heard my Aps 2.4 without the stock cats.I think the Greddy is better because of a little more flow!
The APS 3inch is much to loud i think...i want a daily drivebale car!
Greddy with 2,75 isn,t so loud i heared!But i don,t know 100Percent!
Sorry for my lousy english but i am from germany and shipped my car to the staates!
Still waiting over 6 weeks for the customs in San Diego...Hope it find an end soon!!!!!!!!!!!!Greetings Andi.

Quietest exhaust design that I've ever seen that is better design than stock can be found at tanabe's website

tanabe medalion touring...

advertized under 93dB which is the legal limit in some states for exhaust noise.

They have a new type of muffler material which makes it quieter than most...

Fujitsubo Legalis Elegant - It's a very rare exhaust, but sometimes quieter than stock

From what I remember reading, it actually adds weight after you put it on.
Its one of the heaviest exhaust systems out there.
