glad i found this thread, I am about to install my exhaust and was wondering the same thing.. Is it true I do not have to leave the battery unplugged all night though? will a few minutes be sufficient? eh i guess it doesnt really matter either way..
It takes a finite amount of time for residual voltage to decay within the ECU, and turning on any device that works with the ignition off, such as pumping the brakes (brake lights) will draw that voltage down to zero much faster. I have proven it to myself that disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes or so, AND pumping the brakes WILL reset the ECU. Whether that has any effect on bringing your bolt-ons to life is another story.
The disconnect battery and push the brake does work...I hooked up my Greddy InfoMeter and watched the a/f ratio's...you could tell it was "learning" the correct ratio to have.
