hey guys i just had my stillen td installed and i noticed everytime i would get to a stop light a strange smell would come into the car. not to strong but deffinitely there. and then when i got home and got out of the car i could smell it as well. It smells similar to if you left the e brake up. And no, i didn't leave the e brake up. Anyone else experience this? Is it normal?
aftermarket exhaust gets hotter than the OE (no sheilds etc...). its your paint on the undercarriage being heated up. once the paint cures at the higher operating temp, the smell will go away...... or you have a leak somewhere.
cheers!

Sorry guys - all wrong:
The mandrel bending technique uses a heavy grease to coat the mandrel and the ***** so they slide through the pipe, instead of ripping through the pipe.
The grease is on the inside and outside of the pipe, and it is VERY difficult to remove completely. All you are getting in that grease burning off. You'll of course smell it at a stop, because the car isn't moving and it radiates straight up into the cabin...same thing once it's parked.
Typically, it should burn off after about 5-10 miles of driving - usually within about 5 miles or so. If it wasn't cleaned well...it will take longer and even smoke a bit.

it's the mill oil in the exhaust burning off. It takes a little time. The heat shields are still there under the car when you install a new exhaust
