Default 3 Hours To Install HFC's? Are They Trying To Rip Me Off?

hey guys I just got my ultimate racing hfc's in today and I took them to the same shop that installed my stillen td exhaust. They charged me 150 to do the exhaust and it was done within like 30-40 minutes. Now they're telling me that it will take AT LEAST three hours to install the HFC's. I've seen DIY guys on here before say that it didn't take them more than an hour. Are they ripping me off or is this standard?

That is not standard at all. It should take an hour at the most to install your cats.

they can charge you what they want. They're doing the work.

If that's too much money for you, do it yourself and learn a thing or two.

three hours is right if they're doing it with sticks and stones. geez, 3 hrs.

i can understand it if you were doing it for the first time, with no lift, and not sure of the tools.

Take it to a local tire/muffler shop. Heck, those guys will do it for $20. It's a quick bolt-on job.

LOL it takes an hour on jackstands. They're definitely charging too much.

if they have a shop manager, go and talk to him. If he's no help, i would look for a new place to get it installed.

It may have to do with the fact that they are removing smog devices and are telling you to read between the lines at the fact that they really only will do it if you pay them more money.

Umm...let's just say that they're grossly overstating the length of time it'll take for installation. My test pipes took a half hour on jack stands.

It's also why I did mine at the same time I did my headers...
