Default What is it

On the Nismo cat back system, it has that canister thing on the mid pipe. Is that like a resonator or what? Obvisouly it's not the Cat's so it must not have anything to do with the emissions, right? So what would happen if you by passed that canister, using just a straight pipe in it's place instead?

Would it be raspy?

Would it sound louder and or deeper?

Yes, it's a resonator and you don't want to remove that or you will probably hear drone.

There's absolutely no reason to remove it. There is no resistance in that resonator. I'm almost absolutely sure its core is the same diameter as the rest of the exhaust, just perferated with a larger diameter pipe around it to help with rasp.

Hi Alberto, I wanted to make my stock exhaust sound a bit louder. So, I was wondering of the Pros & Cons of removing the resonator? Please help.

I know I'm not Alberto, but this is a no. It will sound awful. If you want more sound, buy a pair of RESONATED test pipes or high flow cats.

You can pick up a set of nice used, or new cheap test pipes for around $150. Nice new ones will run around $250 or more.

Pros - a little more power, louder sound
Cons - might get a CEL, gas smell, might get a little rasp before the engine warms up
