I have a Borla TD system that's been on the car for 1-1/2 years. I was under the car today, and noticed an exhaust leak at the H-pipe connection.
After a search I see that the H-Pipe welds are prone to cracking. Is there a solution to this?
I love the Borla sound, but wish they had used a flange design.

I've had my Borla for probably around 10 months and it's also developing problems. It rattles like a biatch and I think my H pipe is leaking also. I'm also having my exhaust welded, I'm probably gonna do an x-pipe and remove the resonators in place of straight pipes while I'm at it.

yep get it welded. any muffler shop can do it and it wont add much to cost of the install. sounds is unmatched imo. nothing else sounds like it. has none of the honda like sound even the all mighty hks still posseses. plus the borla system has been dyno proven to gain with the best of them.

Well mine goes in tomorrow to get the Borla welded and the resonators removed in place of straight pipes. I'm also throwing a different set of test pipes on so hopefully I'll get a refreshingly new sound.

I think I might be the only one here who doen't like the sound of the Borla exhaust. It's too domestic soundin' for me. Don't get wrong I'd rather it sound domestic then like a stangled cat. There's nothin' worse than those high pitched exhausts. They give the whole import tuner nation a bad rap.
I have the Injen SES 1985C Dual cat-back and absolutely love it.
Just one man's opinion though.
Btw, Santacruzslick, I love your rims.

I've never personally owned one but a fellow Z owner that I know has one and likes it alot. It's definetly an acquired taste. In my close to 3 yrs of owning a Z and talkin' with other Z owner's in my area, you either love it or hate it.
I would definetly listen to any exhaust you're thinking about purchasing in person. That's what I did and it narrowed the field down quite fast.
I hit up all the tuner shops in my area for a few months and was lucky enough to run into quite a few different set-ups.

I listened to sound clips of four or five exhausts on this site over ans over before deciding on the Borla. One set of clips was very helpful, as the microphone and camera were placed in nearly the same position for each test, and the engine was idled and revved similarly in each respective clip.
My first reaction after the installation was that the Borla has a rumble at idle and low speeds, but is not loud on acceleration. I liken the sound at idle to listening to a 911.
Other than the leak, I'm very happy with the system.
