Default K&N Typhoon ( Cold air intake)

I just purchased and got my K&N Typhoon (Cold air intake) installed yesterday. So far I noticed a difference when accelerating and also the engine sounds like its breathing much easier if that makes sense? Also the sound is much more deeper then before with the stock intake. Thought I would let you guys know. See ya!

great to hear that you like! Do you have any other mods as well? Would you say that the sound difference is drastically different or minimal...when I had my Injen as a CAI, it wasn't too loud - but when you put it as a SR, it get's much louder!

I was told from several people that the K&N cold air intake doesn’t require a bypass valve and wouldn’t have to worry about water? Where do you get your information and could you show me a link about cold air intakes and water?

Thanks,

Dude, the equation is Engine + CAI = Possible Hydrolock Here is a snippet from wikipedia (the online encyclopedia for those who don’t know)

“Hydrolocking is often a concern when consumers modify their engines with aftermarket intake systems (e.g. Cold air intake). A cold air intake typically locates the filter near the bottom of the engine compartment to gain access to colder air, which can also increase its chances of ingesting water should it be submerged”

In conclusion, avoid as many puddles as you can…

JWT FTW!

Relax. I have done some serious water tests, and never got a drop of water anywhere near the filter. 29,000 miles and never a single problem.

True but the K&N Typhoon Air Intake is not typical.

My friend had to leave his car on the side of the road because it was raining too hard and his car stalled out. Doesn't mean it's gonna happen to you, but it's a possibility.

seriously...the cold air duct does not form a seal with the air box so there isn't even enough vaccum force to suck air up from the grill to the filter! LOL..

agreed. The Typhoon is imo the best designed cai out there, with no risk of hydrolock whatsoever
