Default Stock Airbox with better Filter =vs= pod filter

I tried to find some legit info about this.. but not many people seem to keep the stock airbox and use better flowing filter element but go for a pod filter instead.

I wonder if stock airbox really is a bottle neck of the intake system. if you look at the opening of the airbox, its pretty much the same size to the afm/throttle body size. I wonder if it can really benefit by going for a pod filter.

I wish to know if pod filters are giving better power simply because of their filter material or becuz it has got rid of the airbox which maybe a restriction.

anyone?

I think pod filter is a cone-shaped filter, like the popcharger, nismo intake, aem intake, etc.

the stock ait intake is very efficent as is. a high flow filter and and plenum spacer in my opinion is the best way to go. that way you dont have the issues with the long tubes in CAI and the heat issues with pop chargers
I live in the desert and its 125* sometimes so a popcharger would heat soak like crazy in everyday traffic ---- I think a nismo drop in might be my next move --- although everyone loves that popcharger sound

drop in + MREV2 + spacer + test pipes + electric cut out simple yet effective
