I wish someone would make a list of each exhasut and their respective gains!

video # 2 on the injen site. I have to commend injen for making the worlds first 350z prop plane. That's UNBELIEVABLE! I wonder how high it flys?

Not bad. I like the style, but it would be better if its straight, not feeling the slanted style.

I'm with most of you guys on this one! Sounds and numbers are making me ! But those tips and build-up on the bumper make me

and on a side note.... EVERY exhaust company should have their pen and pad out when they go to INJENs link **(ESP STILLEN)**! all this guessing and personal testing **** you make us do is flat out asinine!

That gathering of info and details is the type of thing all of you should be doing for your products! Pics, tons of info, vids, sound, and proof.....a customer could not ask for more!!!!!!!!!! That page alone is enough for me! Correct the tips and build-up on the bumper and I will without a doubt have both the intake and exhaust on Z in no time!

A slight bend and extension directly behind the mufflers themselves would do the trick!
INJEN.......You listening?

Most vendors wont post dynos because they know as soon as someone gets something different from what they did that they will take heat for it. Your dammed if you do and dammed if you dont. That is why companies like Stillen give "around" numbers because they know that dynos will be different. A good example is the Injen dyno those guys did a open invite dyno and they still got blasted for the numbers they posted.

About the exhaust sounding like an airplane:

I'm not quite certain, but it's my guess that the whining "airplane engine" sound is not the exhaust, but the dyno slowing down. I highly doubt that the sound was coming from the exhaust, because the only type of engine that sounds like that is a turbine engine. It's a v6, not a turbine.

I watched another dyno video, made no such sound. IT was the exhaust, i'd bet 50 bucks.

Personally I feel this is a cop out. Stand behind your product and give a couple of solid Dyno numbers. Be up front and put a disclosure - results may differ.

By using this cop out you are essentially succumbing to a marketing tactic versus a engineering style tactic. Since most people on here are engineered "performance" minded individuals you'd be best to state out your gains and make the claims.

If you have heard one dyno, does not mean you have heard them all. You could be right, but I really do not think it is the exhaust.

If you listen to the beginning of the video carefully, you will notice that when the car shifts, the exhaust note drops back down, yet the whining only pauses in note, it does not drop. It only pauses in note because the car is changing gears, which means the dyno has stopped accelerating.

If the whining was coming from the exhaust, chances are it would be some sort of "whistle" that is a result of air flow through the exhaust. And because of this, its "note" should also drop back down whenever the car shifts. However, it does not.

The exhaust note when changing gears:

The whining note when changing gears:

If the whining did come from the exhaust, it should have a similar note pattern as the exhaust note. It doesn't though, and it only makes sense that it is the dyno making this sound.

You can bet your $50, I think you will lose it though. Just my thoughts. I just don't want people to be misguided by the whining noise.

I can not access the video links on teh Injen site to hear the testing of the new exhaust. Is anyone else having trouble?

uhhhhhhh....which video are you watching? I'm wathing the second video "Video: w/ only Injen SUPER SES on dyno."

I don't know what sound you're talking about. BUt they dyno a car in one gear. Some use 5th gear. Why would there be shift points if they dyno in 5th? I don't really hear what you're talking about. I'd say my 50 bucks is a safe bet.

Most roller dynos make that airplane noise. I believe the rollers are what you guys are referring to the "turbine" sounds. Go put your car on a dyno and you'll see what I'm talking about.

In the second video, the same video that you are talking about, they do go through the gears. It's of course at the beginning of the video, and I'm sure if you watch it again, you will hear them change gears.

It is during this part of the video (where they are shifting through the gears) where you will notice what I have explained in my last post.

The whining sound is directly related to the speed of the wheels. Therefore, whatever is causing the sound must also share that same relation. The whining sound could be from the dyno itself, it could be from the wheels rolling against the dyno, it could be the rear wheel axle itself (it's probably the dyno, as I can't see the other two making such a noise). However, I am almost 100% sure it is not from the exhaust, as the note pattern would be different.

That whining sound is typical for many things that spin at high RPM's. One example would be a circular saw.

My suspicions were correct, in all likelyhood it is the dyno that is making that noise.

Now, give me my $50, phile!

Ok we'll just call it even since we were talking about two different things. I wish you would have said something before, I spent like 2 hours making those awesome graphs.

But ya I do hope I do know the difference between a prop and turbine engine, especially since I attend an aeronautical school. And after reviewing the tape with what you said in mind, it does sound similiar to a prop plane!

OK, so I watched the videos.

1) the whining sound is most likely the dyno

2) the power gains are impressive and Injen's methodology should be an example to all who market their mods

3) the exhaust DOES sound like an airplane taking off!!!

4) I do NOT like the sound. It's too loud and it's too ricey. And yes it does sound AND look like a fartcan Civic.

So well done Injen but your exhaust is not for me, despite the awesome price and good power gains. Personally, I like the sound of the Stillen exhaust better, followed by the B&B and then the Fujitsutubo.

Luckily the Z is very modable and we have a lot of choices!
