Z Exhaust - Sound problem
I am looking for some tips on how to modify the exhaust of my Z when I get it. I would like to lower the exhaust tone. To me the 350Z exhaust has a little too much "japanese I4 sound" to it. It's not BAD, but I am not quite normal.
Every car I have owned since 1982 has had a V8 in it. My ears are adjusted to engine that sound like that. Back in those American V8 days, the sound of a small japanese engine was sort of silly to me and my buds. We just got tired of the riced out civics that thought a new air filter and a coffee can exhaust would let them drag race a hot rodded V8. 8*)
So, although the Z sound WAY better than most small engines, I would still like to push the sound a little deeper if possible. I suspect it is possible since my motorcycle (1.5 liter VTwin) has a very deep tone.
Are there any aftermarket systems for the Z that really punch up the bass tones and swallow the higher droning tones?
(I know it is a long shot, but I can dream)

Go Borla!
Mine is coming in any day now. Borla is known for its deep rumble.
Contrary to popular belief, Borla is not named after its owner... It is named after the sound it makes...
You know... "borla borla borla borla borla"

I have heard alot of people say that the Borla exhaust systems make V6 cars sound like V8s. I have never heard a V6 with a Borla exhaust so, I can't say that I agree. I do know that Borla has an excellent reputation as an exhaust manufacturer plus $630 for a cat back exhaust is a great deal. Others have used the flowmaster 80 series muffler (Part #42583) and they say it is a direct replacement. Do a search here and you should find sounds clips of the Flowmaster...

Below is a video of my GTP with 3" exhaust and out of a pair of borlas. It has a supercharged 3.8L V6. I am in the parking garage at work so it sounds louder than it is, but you can get the idea of the sound. I think it sounds like a v8.
