I don't think it sounds bad -> ie injen SES. I was just expecting something truelly unique and exotic. All I got was a toned down stock exhaust note that sounded muffled and weak

ai ai, with the hks you do loose the 350z stock sound but i must say i think its louder than stock, so what other mods did he have on his car? i heard the injen ses before i even got my car and i must agree that its not the best sounding exhaust

The HKS to me sounds good at idle and driving around town, had plenty of time to hear it because i would pace my friend at his rear bumper all the time. The exhaust IMO gave a sort of Porsche-ish exhaust note which i thought was hawt. Once he would really floor it though that note would go to crap and sound weird w/a rapsy note (sounds very unique but not prety)...something i dont like. I like more smoother sounding exhausts Also i would expect at least a damn sticker with the HKS exhaust after spending $1300 but i've never heard of anyone receving any as it is the HKS exhaust has nothing on it to say its HKS . On the other hand i saw some Injen clips...not of the new Ti version and it sounded like complete a$$, never heard the new version of it though.

Disclaimer: not talking smack about anyone's exhaust just giving my opinnion.

HKS sounds much better with straight pipes. The injen sounds 20X better with a n X pipe and straight pipes. the FI exhaust is quiet because of the X pipe and many mufflers.
My choice is still Injen w/ straight pipes and X pipe. But at the going rate, you might as well have a custome xhaust made with 2 borla mufflers, 2 ebay resonators, custom X pipe and itll probably come out cheaper.

I liked the power and sound out of my Injen, and while the welds look good - they're pretty sub-par. I've had to have mine rewelded in several occasions in many places after less than two years of service. In fact, some of the other welds are starting to deteriote, so I think it's time for a new system...

haha; I definitely agree with you. I see all these videos of cars parked; revving up the exhaust; and almost all of them sounding terrible. (even ones that sound great on the road, like HKS) I have a suspicion that many of these cars are not warmed up before this revving activity, which not only makes it sound a lot different than even a parked car in the right operating temp range, but is also bad for the motor. I think the HKS is worth the difference because there is really no audible drone from inside the cabin. That to me is worth the extra 500. I'll probably go w/ the 5zigen xtube s-spec though (I have a g35 coupe btw) cause I really like everything about that exhaust, including the single exhaust tip.
