Default 5/16 ISO Thermal motordyne spacer review

Got to drive the Z around after installing the 5/16 spacer a few weeks ago. I have an 03 with just the spacer and K&N drop in.

First impression was the exhaust idle was a little deeper, not a huge difference though. All rpm ranges seemed to have an extra boost that wasn't there previously. Its very noticeable. Nothing scientific , just by the seat of my pants. The biggest gain happens in the higher rpm ranges. Pulls like hell.

After driving around for an hour or two, I checked the plenum temp with my hand to see if it made a difference. It was noticeably cooler than normal. I could leave my hand on it when previously its too hot to touch.

For those people worried about the plenum gaskets leaking, I actually forgot to put in one bolt at the top of the plenum and it wasn't even leaking in that area.

Great product and definitely worth it!

if you do both the MREV and the spacer on a non-revup engine then you will definatly need a tune. Dont get the MREV if you have a non-rev up. You will achieve the same results for half the price with a ISO spacer only. MREV2 is for the HR engines.

^correction.

MREV2 was meant for the rev-up motor (300hp, 6000rpm) engine but was found to have gains with the non-rev-up (287hp, 6600rpm). There are no mods available for the VQ35HR motor yet (306hp, 7500rpm).

When MD said "high rev engine" they meant the Rev-up motor. If they already have a spacer for the HR motor, then DAMN they are GOOD.

correct me if im wrong, i think the REV-UP motors are from the '05-'06 Z. and the NON REV-UP are from the '03-'04...and the REV-UP motor has less torque compare to the NON REV-UP engine but the REV-UP motor has more power.

i installed it with a friend of mine.
i didn 't feel any diff thoo, didn't gain 10-15 whp...
so i sold it and now i regret, coz now my plenum is very hot, i can't even touch it after a run.
a friend installed it on his Z last week (N/A), i'll ask him about the results!

Default Just a quick q guys...

I know it's hidden but just how stealth is it? Is there any visual indication of installation whatsoever?

Just curious.

Its very stealth. You can't even tell its installed in most cases unless you look very carefully. I have the crawford plenum, which ahs almost the same gains at the 5/16ths and it definately makes a difference.

a bunch of us DIY'ed it. It's not too hard. there are some tricky spots to it, but nothing overly difficult to handle. I'm no gear head, and managed to do it with some help.

it's pretty hard to find unless you're looking for it. A bunch of us in TO has installed it, so you can check it out in person if you like.

The only non-stock look to it are the new bolts really, cause they're a different colour, and possible the spacer underneath the strut bar. other than that, you really can't tell that the thing is here.
