Hmmm...How much HP did just the exhaust add??? I still haven't seen real evidence that just the cat-back adds any significant gains for the price...Point me to a dyno sheet and I will gladly eat my words

Yeah, I guess I should have just not said anything...I really didn't want to upset anyone, but i just wish everyone had the chance to hear it in person before buying it...I thought it sounded decent on the vids posted on here, but it was totally different in person..I would just hate to know I spent so much money on something that I didn't enjoy..I'm more of a borla, stock, stillen guy myself...At least these exhaust keep more of the sport's car/stock throaty tone.

i dont like it at all either..nismo is pure sex. and anyone who tells you they put on a cat back exhaust and it feels more powerful is just letting the hype go to their head

I have had both Nismo and HKS. I love the Nismo sound, I wish they had given it a nicer appearance though, too close to stock IMO. The HKS definitely has a different sound. I can see where the "rice" comment comes from. I think that it is better described as a "reedy" sound then as a fart can though. It really sounds nothing like the exhaust on civics, etc.

I llove both .

Now that I have mine installed (Sharif@Forged), I have to respectfully disagree. Riley, like me you have an 07, so I'm sure you've noticed that your car has a "deeper" tone than previous models. This translates to the HKS Hi-power quite nicely. I'm in Gainesville also.. let me know if you want an in-person listening.

i agree the HKS sounds like a fart can to me. i much prefer the borla, fast intentions, nismo, greddy exhausts over this one. i don't wanna drive around and be mistaken for a honda haha. but to each their own.

well if you are looking for a more mature crowd, you wouldn't fit in with your posts. you say its your opinion and want to know why people like it, yet you bash the exhaust and imply that people who like it have bad taste and want their cars to sound like a civic. you don't leave room for a 'mature' discussion. so like many have wondered, what is the point of this thread? i haven't seen any retaliatory comments equivalent to your posts, so i don't even know why you brought up maturity.

its not such a hard concept to grasp that people have different tastes and look for different sounds from an exhaust. its personal preference and to say the exhaust is crap is pretty crappy. so how do you expect people to respect you, your post, or your opinion when you start the thread bashing people/exhaust/opinions? from the looks of it you seem young and a bit overzealous, or you had too much coffee this morning. did you tell the guy with the g35 that his exhaust sounds like crap and blah blah after he let you hear it? one hell of a way to strike up a conversation or to maintain one.

if you didn't know the g35 sounds different than a Z. did the guy take you for a spin, or did a driveby so you can hear how it actually sounds? having a car parked and revving the engine won't sound the same as an engine under load, different loads if you are shifting through the gears. and if you did a little research before posting ignorant comments, you'd find that there are dyno sheets on the exhaust and it happens to be one of the best(1st or 2nd) hp producing exhausts for an NA car.

btw- the phrase is "couldn't care less", saying that you Could care less means that you care for it to some degree

from all the exhausts i've heard and read about no exhaust gets as much positive feedback as the HKS. And no matter how many times i have heard it in person and in videos i am always left in utter disappointment but yet i always want to hear more. the fact is that i don't want to hate it, i want the gains and i want the beautiful look, but its the sound that frustrates me. i agree that the HKS sounds awesome (one of the best IMO) when at idle and when reving, but under load it sounds entirely different, you could almost say that it loses its grunt. Then again i do still plan on eventually getting the HKS setup in the next few months.

Default wow.......just wow

here is my opinion. most of the people that bashed the thread starter are the ones that own hks and nobody else. The HKS does sound like crap in my opinion.I also feel that you could spend your money wiser.I think it looks like crap as well but that is definately just an opinion because i think that i am the only one that feels that way.If i had $1200+ then i would just get a topspeed pro 1 and some cams.tell me which will gain more power? HKS exaust? or topspeed and cams? HKS makes a great product but too many companies take Z owners for granted.$400-$800 is a good price for an exaust in my opinion. The guy that started this threat started it for the same reasons so many of you started threads to bash the kinetix ssv.besides, my Z has more then enough power out the box for what i need.I am not trying to beat any vipers any time soon.people on here spend $20,000-$30,000 on your Z for what? Daily driver? I am military and dont make much cash at all. to tell you guys the truth, i can barely afford the Z and i am so lucky to own one.Its just so funny to me that everyday i see at least one member post something snooty. If you guys make alot of money then good for you but us "little guys" are still entitled to our opinions.this is another thread that may help a member to decide on if he/she will purchase an hks.you have your opinions so let us have ours.thanks

Everyone that has heard my exhaust in person has loved in. No one has ever said it sounded like rice. It can get a little raspy at times but I don't hear any rice whatsoever, just a nice deep growl.

Opinions are like asssholes, everyone's got one.

i hope your post isn't directed towards me?

what is this, an exhaust war? i was just explaining to the OP why he was getting the replies he was. i've never bashed any exhaust, and if i didn't have an hks my post would be exactly the same. i didn't post any fanboy comments or rave how great my exhaust is. and whats money got to do with anything, especially if its not yours? some people don't have the best bang for the buck mentality and some do, theres no reason to even comment on what others choose to do with their money.... i don't think we are on the same page here...

my post wasnt directed towards any one person.but when you ask "whats money got to do with it" i will answer back with "everything". HKS is not worth what it costs.plain and simple.once again, just my opinion.and your right. we are not on the same page here.im glad you like your hks.

yes, he expressed his opinions, and that fine. but he expects people reply in a 'mature' way. would you go up to someone and say 'hey can i hear your exhaust?' then 'dude your exhaust is crap and sounds like it too, you spent way too much money on the piece of crap thats not worth it. so why do you like it?' and expect him to have a conversation when he'll probably punch you in the face. its about common courtesy. how would you like it IF someone said, 'dude you are broke, why do you even have a Z? your exhaust is a poorman's exhaust, what a joke. if you can't afford anything nice you might as well not get it.... so whats your name? lets be friends'.

did you even read his first post in the thread? he specificly said that he was not trying to offend any hks owners.i dont think this thread was started for hks owners.it was probly started for non hks owners, and potential buyers.and if somebody came up to me and said the things that you just typed.then yes i would still be friends with them because it is a remark about my car and not me.besides, once again, its just opinions. and if they wanted to be my friend after saying all that then obviosly they meant no harm and just need to learn how to say things in a more "subtle" manner.we will never agree on this so you might as well drop it.

Quick Reply: HKS sounds "Ricey" to me...
