First of all those are intercooler pipes. Second, you cannot do that with the 07's because the MAF housing is connected to the air filter box. Best thing to do is drop in filters for now once they make it.

we're talking about the 07 right? the one with the dual intakes...

you have the nissan sport mag article? i would think even on the older vq35de it would only yield 4-6whp max...

wow...that helps a lot. can you elaborate? what intakes were in the comparison? what kind of numbers were being recorded?

i know there was an exhaust shoot out...but an intake shoot out?

I for one am excited there is some production going on for aftermarket items on the HR engine. What I find funny, though, is everyone flaming the cost for the dual intakes...I mean it is TWO intakes at $400...most single intakes are in the 200's alone....and this is TWO of them. Additionally, everyone is assuming this probably won't make any power and flaming it, but we haven't even seen any numbers or gains/losses on it, so why jump on it so quickly? I am quite sure if it sounds sweet as hell people will buy it for that fact alone...kind of like pop chargers or exhausts that sound great, but make no real power.

Either way, the point is, the HR owners should be at least happy to see something is finally out there for their engine. Whether I get it or not, it's just good to see and know it's available.

From looking at the design, and the install PDF you can see they are not just airboxes, but actually have conical filters (basically a popcharger). What they've done is fab it together cleanly and put a maf adapter along the piping.. Rumor has it Fujita is coming out with something in a couple of weeks too. I'm interested in both actually..

Yes there was a intake shootout. It had the Stillen Injen, AEM, and some others I don't recall. The Stillen made the most power, it also didn't lose power liket he Injens and AEM's did due to turbulence.

Contact NissanSport for the article I am sure they will either give you a link or information regarding it.

I'll also wait and see what the Nismo version looks like. I heard a rumor of 10hp..we'll see.

I'm just not sure you can REALLY see the gains from a lot of intakes on a dyno. Some maybe, but not what it's really capable of. There just isn't enough airflow when dynoing..even with a fan. Just IMO though.

Yeah, there seems to be a lot of hatin' goin' on...I'm sure there be some sort of gain, but even if it gains 6-7whp your not really going to be able to tell the difference...Same as any intake that is made for the previous Z...It's all about personal taste and the itch we all have to modding our cars...It's just a hobby to me.. I personally will wait to see what the other companies come up with first and then make my decision.

damn, I bet that's gonna sound badass. I heard the stillen on a vq35de and had a mean rumble when you rev it. This will only sound twice as mean.

Yeah I talked to an engineer at stillen and he said they went through a bit of design and chucked out a lot of crap. They dyno'd 7hp on a stock 07 with < 1000 miles on it. They were surprised themselves apparently. We'll see what happens when I dyno... Should be cool..

Also the guy mentioned that it growls mean.. big time since there are two and the design widens the maf adapter.

The price is all relative.. everyone else is paying 150-200 for their single intakes.. so of course it's going to cost a bit more to do this on a dual intake car...

Either way, i'm excited. Plus I actually get to do something to my Z this weekend!
