Dumps on a 350Z
Cut-outs especially electric are a great idea
I toyed with the idea so I could run stock exhaust and run open for "special" occasions
Cut outs are great for the track too.....eliminates the work of having to drop a b pipe (y-pipe for Z) etc...when your at the track....that alone is worth the money
They arent that expensive either
As far as sound goes.....its not to sound cool, its to make power so who gives a $%^^

thank you sergek exactly what i think im ordering one as we speak i just dont wanna drop 1k to have a little better sound when as half *** showed it can sound pretty damn good for about 200 bucks.
If you put the dump valves (cut outs) where they are supposed to be (after the headers) you are essentially running open headers. If you are drag racing, the mod might be beneficial.

"dumps" is a term used amongst domestics for a "turndown" tail pipe.
for example..........on a 79-2004 mustang, they had the mufflers under the car (mid chassis.) if you had dumps, basically, you had very short pipes after the mufflers with turndown tips so the exhaust was aimed straight down.
Ihad these on a pair of mustangs I owned. I loved the way they sounded. It was very deep, but you didn't get the "highway drone" of a full tail pipe system. Plus, the exhaust was even louder at WOT!!!!

I ran a dump electric cut-out on my Z for a few weeks.
-couldn't find an electric valve that didn't rattle when closed.
-was way too loud (headers, TP, 3")...I used it at a drift and autoX event, at both events I was asked to close it due to health concerns of the works! (I autoX next to an airport that has 747's taking off...so it was that loud).
-In the end, I think the power difference was negligble.

I mostly lurk on here but this a good thread for me to give input.
I don't run cutouts but they are technically dumps. Currently I run true dual 2". At the time of these vids it was a VQ30. Now its a 35 and the tone is that much better. Deeper and more exotic sounding. Excuse the text. A friend edited for me.

My cousin has one on his supercharged IS300. Its great. Flip the switch and it gets crazy loud and he picks up a decent gain top end. Then flip the switch and it goes back to stock.
I think he spent 280 all together on it installed.

$200 actually...from www.dmhperformance.com/. And then $20 for a muffler shop to weld it in
It works really well and has an excellent seal. You can open it partially as well...just a motorized butterfly valve. I love it
