Default test pipes

my test pipes are makin a real raspy sound from 3-4000rpm. if i took those off and put a y-pipe on, would it give me the deep sound that i used to have with no raspy noise?

It may be a little louder and deeper, but say goodbye to any HP gains that you got from your TP's.

It goes in this order: headers, test pipes, y pipe, muffler. A y pipe wont do anything if you throw your stock cats back on, atleast my kinetix y pipe did nothing. After I put my test pipes on there will be a little rasp but eventually my setup blew off my stock muffler so I was forced to buy an aftermarket exhaust. I'm still waiting for it =]

Are your test pipes resonated?

Have you heard it outside of your car?

I'll say it again... rasp is over-rated and it sounds way different outside of the car.

Are your tp's resonated?? We dont really have any details here buddy. Expect rasp with tp's, even resonated tp's will still give you some rasp.

My ex-Strup non-resonated TP's and Nimso exhaust setup disagree. Haha. It was really loud and raspy.

:shrugs:

I don't know why people complain about it to be honest. Its not as bad as people make it out to be. My car is fairly quiet while driving/cruising and its loud as hell at WOT. Do I care? Hell no because who drives at WOT 90% of the time?

Umm, just because its bolted on doesn't mean it can't be loose... Normally I re-tighten them after I've driven the car for a day or so.

Thats funny, my friend gained ~12whp on his 06 and it was dynod the same day.

To be honest, I loved the sound. It was loud, but it was the rasp that bothered me most. To me, it was enough to get rid of them. I mean, most of the highways here in Jersey have concrete walls and whatnot and the sound would just reverberate like crazy.
