Wrong. HKS exhaust's piping diameter is actually 2 1/4"..not even 2.5"
Anyhow not really ideal for F/I like you said.

IIRC, HKS is 60mm which is ~2.36". I really think it comes down to sound preference and budget when it comes to the NA exhausts. The power gains seem to be a wash between all the choices.

FI exhaust sounds like sex to me. HKS not as much. both seem to be of very good quality. just get whatever you like best.

HKS sounds like POS IMHO
I've heard FI exhaust with their HFC, aftermarket intake and I swear it sounded like Lambo Gallardo, especially when you blip the throttle to rev-match.

Yea only reason I got it was for looks and power gains(gained +6whp & 5tq over my Nismo)
I'm actually getting rid of it next week for 2 reasons:

1. POS sound
2. It won't clear TS CF diffuser which I'll be getting.

I don't know what the tech was talking about, but he said something that he needed to remove the exhaust heat shield because it wouldn't fit the Fast Intentions exhaust??? I hope and assume he wasn't talking about the cats.

If I remember, I saw him remove a two small covers near the stock muffler to the right and left that he didn't replace... I think.

Well, I have to say that I agree with you, sounds awesome! Definitely much deeper than stock, just loud enough for me. I had my local Nissan dealer put it on and they ran into the same problem with the heat shields. Supposedly it took them about 6hrs to put on...said it was a real pain in the as#.
What did it end up costing you to have installed?

6hrs is BS..exhaust install shouldn't cost more than $150 TOPS.

i herd and seen both exhausts fast intentions to me looks higher quality then the HKS the tips dont have the redicuous screws that are visible and the piping is larger. Also...the sound though subjective just sounds to me more of a deep VQ note then the HKS typical sounding hi pitched sound. I myself had a debate and now am choosing the FI intentions exhuast SS with with the res test pips SS. Its really the hottest choice i seen, without going to a real work of art like amuse etc .. HKS overrated in the exhaust department.

I have HKS for FI purposes, and let me tell you: It was easy to install, looks nice and makes power, but with test pipes, you will never hear the VQ note again. It's 350z Type-R from there on out. Anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to justify the price tag they could just barely deal with.

Totally B/S...I was just so happy to finally have it on I just paid the $. usually, I would have caused such an argument, but they did squeeze me in after they told me it was not going to happen.

On another note, I am totally diggin this FI exhaust. Like someone else said...a deeper VQ sound. It's bad as^

If I recall,

HKS is 2.25 inch TD...

Fast Intentions is 2.5 inch TD

Hey Platinum,

Complete BS from your installer. They charged me $70 for the install. All the other quotes were under $85.

Also, the only reason why I didn't do it myself was because I was swapping my exhaust with another member. And the swap took the technician about an hour and a half for both cars... (he was taking his time).

Enjoy the exhaust. I know I am

that is the best sounding exhaust setup for the 350z right there.

forget the other one. cant even hear it. whats the point of buying an aftermarket exhaust if its not gonna be a little more noticably loud. compared to the stock.

this setup is on the way for my Z. so i will show u beotchesss

Not all of us like getting pulled over on a weekly basis for a loud exhaust
