So I wanna make an exhaust purchase tomorrow morning...been listening to sound clips and reading reviews all night. Can't make up my mind!!! Either the Fast Intentions Intimidator or the HKS TI.
So many people have the HKS and love it, and the people that have the FI seem to love it as well.
Pros of HKS(IMO)
more exotic sound
looks sharp
Great name and sure quality is great
Cons of HKS(IMO)
Could be just a little too loud
read several reviews that it is very raspy, sounds ricey
Pros of FI(IMO)
not one bad review
great customer service
looks sweet
Cons(IMO)
could be too quiet (heard that compared to stock and wasn't THAT much louder
Otherwise, both seem to cost about the same, have the TI tips if wanted and show decent gains.
Anyone familiar with both exhaust, especially if you own or have heard them in person...please share some insight.

1) Deep low rich tone
2) No rasps or "rice" sounds
3) No droning
4) Low db level at normal speeds. It's just loud enough to remind you that you have an aftermarket exhaust
5) At WOT or high speeds you can still have an easy converation with the person next to you.
6) Quality. I can not say more about this exhaust. I know some people ran into a few bad batches but this thing is top tier quality. After unpacking it I could see where my $1000+ dollars went.
The only drawback about the HKS is that it's a 2.5 exhaust. If you ever want to go FI you're better off selecting the Greddy Evo TT. I have no experience with the FI exhaust but I'm a true believer of you get what you paid for.

You should see and hear these both in person rather than to hear our opinions. People will always give you a suggestion based on their own tastes & preference; it's you that's going to be driving and hearing the car.
I suggest you just find someone willing to let you hear both of these exhausts in person.
In my opinion, its Fast Intentions hands down. I love the sound way better than the HKS
Tell me this doesnt sound great
[bad camera sound quality during nuetral revs]

Just listen to how grea it hears during WOT in the last parts of the clip
Goodluck!

The main difference is the look of the tips (which on the FI are now customizable) and the size of the piping. The FI is 2.5" true dual and the HKS is 2.25" true dual. I chose FI based on the size as I planned to go "FI" (forced induction) and because of the great customer service.
The FastIntentions exhaust is loud. I got the metal HFCs at the same time and it is louder than I wanted. (So I'm putting on some turbos to quiet it down

I hear ya. That does sound pretty mean! I don't think it will sound that mean without the HFC's tho. I am assuming you own the FI. If that's the case, how much louder is it than stock at WOT? Lets say 1-10, 1 being very quiet 5 being stock and 10 being abnoxiously loud...what would you rate the FI over stock?
Well I'm not really telling him to go with the HKS over the FI, but merely giving him my opinion on the HKS. I think the price difference between the two will really sway people who are on a particular budget. I personally do not like "knockoffs" and will gladly pay for the real thing. There's nothing wrong with going the other route if the savings gets your jollys up.
Hey Platinum350,
I am installing this exhaust for a customer on Saturday. You are welcome to stop by, we are in Queens NY (1hr drive from you.. depending how fast you drive =) )
Check sound clips of the HKS exhaust at:

Pros of HKS(IMO)
more exotic sound

Cons of HKS(IMO)
Could be just a little too loud
read several reviews that it is very raspy, sounds ricey
Pros of FI(IMO)

great customer service

Otherwise, both seem to cost about the same, have the TI tips if wanted and show decent gains.

the fast intentions had a good sound (I heard one with resonated tips) but I didn't like how it looked at all, and the sound was much too soft. he had stock cats on, but will be swappign out to headers and HFCs next weekend I think.
these are both members of my car club so I have heard, driven and been around them alot.
I just purchased the FI and will install it tomorrow. I struggled with the decision for a long time before deciding on the FI. The talk of a few quality issues with the HKS (from some folks on this site) changed my mind.
