Default test Pipes legal question

I did a search on the forums but couldn't really find anything on this topic, let's say that for some awkward reason authorities discover you have test pipes as opposed to cats, since test pipes are in fact illegal what exactly would happen next? Is it a ticketed offense? Throw you into the back of the cop car? Or just a fixit ticket..? Does it vary according to state of residence? Anyone know?

What exactly do you mean "ur ***"? What would they do? I wouldn't think it would be jail time or anything like that...

i was thinking about calling to see what is entitled for punishment, but how can they prove you removed the cats to begin with? i guess it just comes down to me calling and finding out, regardless i just put mine on my car today and the thought crossed my mind a few times before buying them but I have talked to a ton of Z owners and most of them have test pipes here...i guess i figured it was a huge deal than people wouldn't risk the punishment. More or less i was wondering if anyone has run into this problem since owning a car with test pipes

maybe for tree huggers out in california, but in georgia I don't think there is any significant penalty, you just have to replace the cats before you can renew your registration
