Default Exhaust sound difference between 350Z and FX35/G Coupe?

Forgive me if this is a repost, but a search yielded a whole bunch of threads that I didn't need. Anyways, I can't help but notice that 350Zs have a slightly louder exhaust than the FX35 and G35 Coupe. I also have an FX35, and when listening to both cars from the outside (idling and moving) the Z sounds a little different. And it's not just my Z, I've noticed it before even owning a Z.

I'm not the only one who say this, my cousin and friends seem to think so too. So is it just us, or is there indeed a minor difference between both exhausts?

IMO, the G has a louder exhaust sound than the Z. It's more pronounced at lower RPMs.

The distance from the motor to the rear is different between the G35 and 350z thus different length pipe and the different sound

I knew it. Thank God I'm not crazy. I figured it had something to do with the extra length of the exhaust on the G/FX. Wouldn't having a shorter exhaust also affect power to our advantage just a bit?

Does the Z have the same mid-pipe resonator that the G and FX have, or even one at all? They change that between models. This is why G sedan owners frequently swap in the mid-pipe from the coupe. It has different internal baffling, so using the coupe mid-pipe gives the sedan a more a aggressive tone.

I'm not sure, but I'd be surprised if the Z has that mid-pipe resonator, and if it did, its most likely less restrictive and has a different internal design than the FX and G.

I wonder if this sort of stuff would explain why Zs dyno higher than Gs. From what I've noticed, where as Zs dyno between 235-240WHP, Gs dyno closer to 230WHP.

It kind of goes against my previous thinking that everything between the Z, G, FX is identical from the engine and back. Doesn't look like it, anymore.
