Default My New Z-Need Some Advice

Hey whats up everyone? I just bought a 2003 Silver Touring with 39,000 Miles on it. I am coming from a 2001 Honda S2000. The first thing I want to do is to get rims for the Z. I was looking at the ROTA P45Rs and the D2s. What would be the correct offset I need to run on both sets of wheels and more importantly where can I get them? Also I have a few mods on order right now that I would like some opinions on. Thanks in Advance-John

1.) Injen CAI

2.) Stillen Headers & Testpipes

3.) Kinetix Racing Intake manifold

4.) HKS True Dual Exhaust or should I go Custom 70MM?

1. Good

2. Ehh there are some better options.

3. Go with a spacer, the Kinetix aren't that special.

4. HKS FTW, but are you planing on FI later?

* Rotas belong on your old S2000 not a Z. If you don't like Ray's brands there are some sick Work's and Advan's that would look great.

1. ehh, I would rather get a popcharger

2. I would go with other brands... (Borala, Nismo, etc)

3. Just get a plenum spacer, its cheaper and does the same thing.

4. Good exhaust, not MY 1st choice, but still good.

Rotas IMO suck, get some axis, volk or rays.

1. Good Choice on Intake (not that it will matter much)

2. Stillen makes good products, but known for fittment issues. I would research a little more before you order headers. Several brands in the same price range with better feedback.

3. The newer version of the Kinetix plenum does perform well. They caught a bad rep from the FI guys with the older plenum do the poor quality of it. Since then they have improved things, they just haven't shooken off the first couple years of production. From my perspective get the Motordyne ISO Spacer due to solid feedback, and the commitment of the company to this website. They have earned the right to damn near sell every spacer mod on this webpage. (for a reason)

4. nice looking exhaust when mounted, good quality all around. Not my personal favorite exhaust tone, but opinions vary.

Welcome.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Each of the mods that you mentioned are addressed in the appropriate forums. Read. Study. Stay awhile.

I assure you there is no rush to buy.

you should research for yourself before committing to expensive parts too quickly.

Thanks for all the info. I do plan on staying a while and doing some more research. I am trying to get to know the car as best I can. Also if anyone has any websites where I can read more about parts and buy them that would be great.

Well you are on the best websit for doing your researching your 350z, but they are others like ***zmotoring.com or ***z-tech.com. Here you have more venders and people selling tons of 350z parts that are super affordable. Besides their is more people here to help you.

As for your set up
Air intake I would go with Pop charger or if you want a complet set up I would look into the K&N Typhoon IMO it has been over looked.

Kinetix V+ is a good one, the motordyne spacer another great option and crawford too.

Headers the best are Crawford, and Nismo is aonther good one.

The Test Pipes depends if you want High flow Catz or stright pipes I would look into Fast Intentions for that same as with exhaust system.

just click on the sponsers tab at the top. you should really take your time before you buy your mods, the Z NA is a dead end in the search for power so getting the best performaning parts is a must...just search around and be patient

Yeah modding your N/A 350z for power is a fun hobby, but it is kinda worthless

1. intake doesn't do too much
2. other brands as others have said.
3. spacer
4. good choice, hks makes nice exhausts.

Rota wheels are great and will save you money so you can get some other mods. I saw go for them!

Ruthless18x - last time I checked S2000's weren't that cheap of cars, pretty much priced almost the same as a 350z. And what's even more funny is you then say get work or advan which with the models you are probably referring to are also cast wheels and will hold up to the same abuse as rotas. if you had said go volk/rays then thats another story since you are paying for a forged wheel.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and I am sorry if some of my questions have been asked before I am still figuring out this forum. I see a lot of people running the popcharger what is so special about a Short ram on this car over a CAI? As far as DC headers go I did not know they were regarded as a good brand for 350Zs. I know in the S2000 Community they make no power and are considered a waste of money. I was looking into some Stillen things late last night. How is the overall quality of their products? I know they were at one point highly regarded in the 300ZX world. What about the Kinetix Racing Manifold? From the research I have done so far it seems like a Giant waste of money and gains no power over the stock manifold with a spacer. Thanks John.

^ what is great about the pop is the small bang for the buck. The SRi effect works better than the CAI because with a CAI the tube is sooo long which tends to loose that ram effect an intake provides. The only draw back of the pop is "heat soak." A heatshield is available for it but doesn't function that great. If that bother you much then opt for the Stillen intake since that is like a pop charger inside an enclosed box to really fight heat soak. The only people that have positive things about CAI's are the people with them...but research a little and that is the wrong way to go.
