07 has a longer header design, shorter cats and an extended Y pipe. any exhaust will attach to an 07 car cat back, an 07 exhaust will not fit any previous years afaik

Agreed...

07: better header design, smoother y-pipe design, the rest of the exhaust is pretty much the same

cats are built into the headers? I forgot.

so after the headers back, ( Y pipe to axle back) from an 03-06 will fit an 07?

Yes but why would you put a 03-06 on a 07?

The Y pipe also has vibration isolators.

No the headers are not built in.

Here I took a pic for you. Two vibration isolators and you notice the Y is straight until the mid pipe then joins just before going into the mid pipe. Much smoother flow.

what do the vibration isolators do? how does it work? I wonder if it would be worthwhile to put them onto an aftermarket exhaust if it reduces any vibrating.

It works by counter balancing the vibration. It would be to much work to weld them on an after market exhaust. The rubber is weighted and suspended off of the bracket. When they vibrate the rubber shakes at a different speed than the exhaust so they balance out or delete every other vibration. = smoother.
