I'm thinking about getting the K&N drop-in, but I can't seem to find the proper answer in regards to how it comes oiled? I remember Maxima K&N filters (all of them, not just the drop ins) were so crappy, that some claimed they were responsible for blown MAFs. So I went and got an A'PEXi for my Berk intake and loved it. Any who, unfortunately it looks like K&N is the only option for a new drop-in filter.
I did some searching, but this is a pretty broad topic which garnered a bunch of results. Basically, after all of this time, are the K&Ns still over oiled?

I wouldnt think so. I don't have the drop in I have the full typhoon kit, but it came pre oiled okay and after you wash it the first time you have to re-oil it yourself which I think is the same on all K&N filters. So I guess if you dont trust it you could just do the the recharge kit before you install it.

I believe they're fine as they come from the factory. I think most people run into problems when they re-oil them.
I've never had any trouble with mine, but I usually clean the MAF sensor every few months.
