Ok, my motordyne iso thermal plenum just arrived and i am going to wait for the engine to cool down until installing it. I drove everywhere looking for a inch-pound torque wrench and couldn't find one. Has anyone installed this without a torque wrench.. ie a nut driver. What does 100 inch pounds feel like? lol

I contacted motordyne and they siad it is perfectly safe to do the torquing by hade aslong as you use a nut driver and NOT A WRENCH, so i am going to go ahead and do it.
I didn't find an inch-pound torque wrench either, so just did it by hand, using the method referred to in the instructions (leather glove and nut driver). Haven't had any problems.

contacted motordyne, and they said if you tighten by hand then you cant physically break a bolt, so tighten as hard as you want becuase you will probably get it to 90-110 pounds per inch which is perfect.

I did it with no torque wrench like an idiot. Sheared off a bolt, did nothing about it. still sitting in the plenum with no head, and one day I will do something about it. GET A TORQUE WRENCH!!!

Ive installed 4 MD spacers/MREV 2's with a nut runner and never had an issue with over torqueing a bolt and stripping it or breaking anything. On my own car at 15psi no plenum leaks, just use a nut runner like the directions say....

I was hoping to get my spacer by this weekend but it didn't show up today. I'll have to wait until next weekend to install it.
boohoo hehe
ok.
Yes, that will always do it.
That is specifically why it says in the instruction manual to not use a regular wrench.
A torque wrench or a nut driver is the only insurance to not break a bolt.
EDIT:
The only time a problem happens is when the instructions are not fully read and understood before starting.
Read and understand the instructions and you will have a perfect install.

Tony............ you should put a picture of someone getting their hand smacked for using a ratchet. Seem like a lot of people just look at the pictures. If you need a stunt hand to do the picture, I'm available all of next week. Call me..... we'll chat!
