Default 2007 HR exhaust sytem??? Whats going on?

I've been given so many different answers on this topic...Whats the deal with our exhaust? Is it different or not? I've been told that the headers are different and that it would be point-less to upgrade and that the exhaust is totally i different, but on the other hand I've some of the guys at the dealership say that the 07 exhaust parts pull up the same Part # as the other years. Does anybody out there have a side by side comparison of a header and or the rest of the exhaust system....i'm reluctent to spend the money when I keep hereing different stories....someone with some experience on this topic chime in...thanks guys.

as far as i know, the Y pipe has slight improvements, the headers are redesigned, but the muffler and midpipe are the same.

Many members on this forum have installed cat-back aftermarket exhausts (designed for the DE engine) on their 2007 HRs without any complaints of fitment. The headers are different and as such a couple of fabricators (fast intentions for one) have modified the flange on their test pipes/HFC to fit the 2007. I ordered an exhaust/HFC combo from FI myself and am pretty confident it will fit without issue.

Is your incident isolated? I definatly don't want this to happen to me.

OK - here ya go:

The downpipes (testpipes, CATS, etc.) are not only a new 3-bolt triangle design, but they do have slightly different bends. Also, the Y-pipe is different, the bends are much less dramatic and do not end up in the same place. Mufflers components may be the same, but their location is not and piping is not.

Fast Intentions has HFC's and testpipes for these cars that will bolt up the the factory catback. They also have modified the S-pipes, to allow the Intimidator catback to fit properly as well.

There is also a GREAT sale going on now - that ends at Midnight tonight.

Call Tony and get your order in, and more information.

I have a Nismo exhaust off of my old '03 I've been holding off intalling it on my '07 until I can do some base line testing (mainly butt dyno) so I can see what difference it makes.

I called up the dealership too and was told the same thing that the part numbers were different than the '06. I also climbed in under the car to check the Y-pipe, since I had heard that it was different, and from what I could tell, it has less of an exterme angle than even the Nismo Y-pipe.

However, recently I noticed that Courtesy Nissan changed their listing of the Nismo cat-back to include all model years of the coupe. Previously they had only listed it as '03-'06. I called the Courtesy Nissan and their parts guy was a little confused as to why it was approved to work on the '07 even w/ different part numbers stock '07 vs previous stock years. But he could offer no explination.

ok...but as of yet no body has pulled a set of headers and compared them to the previous years and or aftermarket ones, correct? So there is no definate answer as to wheather a header change on an 07 is pointless.
