Angry Test Pipes staining my IP coupe

The carbon sh*t that pukes from my exhaust is staining my rear bumper. I'm assuming it's from the TP's. It is very noticeable with white. Has anybody had this same issue and is it permanent?

Thanks

all exhausts have some degree of black that comes out the rear. if it is staining your rear bumper you do not have your exhaust positioned correctly.

+1

that was the hardest part about hanging the exhaust correctly on my set up. Adjusting the tips to be far enough way from the bumper and somewhat level to one another using the stock mounts was a *****. Time to make some adjustments if your bumper is covered in soot.

I'm assuming you think they are pointing slightly upwards. I'll get them bent a little toward the ground and see if that helps. Thanks for the help.

Yes I have test pipes.
Yes the rear bumper gets dirty.

A little wax takes care of it.

My car does the same thing....wash often and use a clay bar if the staining gets to be too bad or where you cant get it off with normal washing

i use meguiars scratch-x. it takes it off with no effort. wax takes some elbow grease but works too.

The staining is mostly due to the blow by through the system. These cars burn oil...and a decent amount of it. Like others have posted already, a little wax goes a long way, maybe a clay bar every few weeks.

wax would seal that black stuff in so you dont' want to do that. Scratch x would work though.

like the others said...wax will do the trick! i use some Meguiars cleaner wax and then follow it up with a few coats of Meguiars NXT wax...then its easier to wipe off for a little while.

don't let it cake on though!!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I definately don't like this sh8t on my back side. Washed it the other day and the stains seemed to be gone, but after I drove about 5 miles to Wal-Mart I noticed the back looked like it had never been washed! If those 300 cell cats that Fast Intentions sells don't kill my power and removes the carbon i'm going that route. How much power will I lose with HFC's? I've got the JWT TT's and Greddy evoTT exhaust BTW.

A easy way to remove the "stain" is with some bug/tar remover I have the same problem with my car it comes right off with the bug and tar remover.

Sounds like your afr's are way too rich - or you've got major blowby. A tune & catch can might help. Might also want to get a compression check to see what's going on.

The gains from cats are roughly 1/2 that of test pipes.

Welcome to my world.

The way I clean it off completly is by using K&N filter cleaner. might sound weird but it works. comes right off once you spary it on the bumper.
