Default Cleaning out my intake- Pics included

Well a couple days ago I decided to dissassemble the entire intake manifold assembly, clean the whole thing out and re-assemble.

I took off the upper and lower intake manifolds, as well as the throttle body and collector. Disassembled and cleaned out all of the gummy buildup and junk that was present. It was NASTY how much stuff was in there, and I went through 3 cans of intake manifold cleaner for the whole project. Here are the before and after pictures of the cleaning.

One thing that was interesting to me was how different my upper plenum is than any other Z i have seen. If anyone has any ideas about hwat the previous owner did to my intake, let me know. It looks to me like he used a grinder to try and take out some of the material of the plenum. The car was sold to me as having a "g35" intake manifold, and the glue residue from the infinity logo is still present on the outside. Notice that it only has 4 bolt holes in the main body of the upper plenum.

Very clean. The inside of the upper plenum is unusual. Its looks like some sort of patch.

Nice write-up. I always enjoy a good write-up with plenty of pics. I had a bit of gunk in mine too when I disassembled it last. Ended up installing the catch can. Hopefully it keeps it a bit more clean in there. Pic included...

^^ Classy looking engine bay you have there. ^^

The only thing that stands out is the crappy OEM plastic power steering and coolant overflow reservoirs.

Yeah, looks like they cut the front of the plenum off and re-welded a larger front section on. That should perform about the same as a spacer. Did your Z come with a strut brace when you bought it?

To prevent the messy oily build-up:
