Default My first complaint about my XO2 setup...

I have recently noticed a rattle coming from my exhaust. I have the XO2 with the XO2 resonated test pipes. If the car is parked, and I rev it, there is a very noticable rattle coming from underneath when the rpms are going back down. Also when I accelerate I can hear a loud rattle noise from 3-5k rpm. I have read up on similar issues, and It's likely the flex pipe. I recall hearing people takling about rattling test pipes... could that be it? If anyone knows how I should go about fixing this, please let me know. I understand that this post is surely ammo for the XO2 haters, but I have talked up my setup for almost a year now, and it's only fair that I disclose issues that its now giving me. I guess a good exhaust shop could likely pinpoint the rattle and get it fixed. Anyone have this issue with theirs?

5k miles on mine and no problems at all. I dont have X02 test pipes though. Where did you get those? About the rattle I found my license plate screws were loose and would rattle the plate when i revved between 3500-4500k. As soon as I tightened my noise went away.

Yeah a couple thousand miles on my x02 and no rattles sounds likes it more likely the test pipes but I could be wrong. Like you said earlier a muffler shop should be able to figure it out.

Do the test pipes have the stock supports or are they are bare?

Rattling could also be metal to metal contact vibration....if a pipe is rubbing a piece of thin metal (say a heat shield) it could vibrate under contact

I had a rattle on my old exhaust when this happened.....my header/test pipe combo was rubbing a factory heat shield made of a thin metal stamping.....removed the heat shield....no more rattle

Does it sound like a buzzing or a bolt rolling around in an empty coffee can? The buzzing/fast clanking sound is what I had with the contact....slow clanking sound came from a blowout Greddy Muffler I had....

I had blown the packing material clean out of the muffler and the pipe between the piping and the tip had actual broken as was rolling around in the can.....it rattled as it sat in the can.....

So while it could possibly be a muffler thing.....my bet is on metal to metal contact/vibration somewhere along the exhaust path

Just my two pennies
