Default Injen Dyno: results inside

OK guys I had a chance to swing by ATP in Fremont during lunch and get some dyno pulls. Thanks to Yuichi of Strictly Z for coordinating the dyno pull and thanks to ATP for the use of their dyno.

Unfortunately, I was on my lunch hour and didn't have time to get a baseline. There were some stock 350Z guys who did some pulls in March and the best stock baseline is what we for comparison. Best stock was: Max Power: 229.6 and Max Torque 223.8. These March pulls were done in 70 F degree weather. I know this is not a true baseline of my car but it's something to use as a comparison. I'll try and get a baseline of my car later in the month when I have time to pull the exhaust and intake out. Until then I have the "after" results only.

Location: Advanced Tuning Products- Fremont, CA
Dyno Type: DynoJet
Tempurature: 88 F degrees
350Z type: Performance
Mods: Injen CAI, Injen SES, Grounding kit (not that it matters but worth mentioning)

DynoRun 1 - 6/4/03 2:14 PM
MaxPOWER- 241.5 MaxTORQUE- 231.1

DynoRun 2 - 6/4/03 2:18 PM
MaxPOWER- 242.4 MaxTORQUE- 233.1

We were curious so we connected battery for 15 minutes (probably not long enough, but were pressed for time) and did two more runs.

DynoRun 3 - 6/4/03 2:47 PM
MaxPOWER- 242.7 MaxTORQUE- 235.4

DynoRun 4 - 6/4/03 2:49 PM
MaxPOWER- 242.1 MaxTORQUE- 233.1

I'm at work right now but will scan the results and post once I get home.
I was honestly expecting to be about 247-248 rwhp. However I've put about 250-300 miles since the exhaust was installed and the battery was disconnected. I'm not sure if the ECU any effect on the mods yet or not. This "ECU correcting or not correcting mods" issue is driving me crazy.
I'll be going back in next week and doing a few more pulls. I'm doing a pretty significant modification to my car this weekend and will post the results next week.

11hp gain. Pretty good, but a far cry from the 23 hp gains being reported by Injen.

Actually 13 , but still off from the Injen Dyno. However before calling ******** on Injen I need to provide a baseline off my car .

cool, ~13 is not bad... with both intake and exhaust, that's about ~<$100/HP....
I'll be curious to see the same dyno after 1 month.... to see if the ECU does do corrections....

Actually the grounding kit is worth mentioning. Turbo Magazine put a Hyper Grounding kit on a Z and gained about 2-4hp and 3tq.
I would buy it even if it only gave me 0.1hp and 0.1tq. I'm going to take all of the Hp available.

based on their best stock dyno pulls, the 91 octane in california must be killing you guys. The standard baseline in Georgia is around 240/240. Dynojet, corrected to SAE. 93 octane here.

Yea CA sucks like that. OK my wife is in the middle of writing this huge report so I can't post the dynos until later- I'll get them up as soon as she gives me back my computer. As many of you have probably suspected the big gains are up high- Above 5.5K RPM.

quick side question, why are CAI's so expensive? Is it not simply a mandrel bent pipe? How difficult would it be to fabricate one on your own?

A buddy of mine had fabricated one for his lightning out of flexible piping and stuck a K&N at the end.

In a past issue of Super Street, the editors had made some intakes out of pop bottles. Reported some really good gains as well.

Dyno #2- Top two are mine. Green (third from top) is the comparitive run. Ignore the purple (fourth from top) this was an aborted run from another 350 thus the 210 hp rating (don't know why he included this run on the chart ).
