Default Any DIY on installing Test Pipes?

Ok, I searched, one came up on this site on how to install headers + TP's, and on the "other site" same one. Does anyone know a good DIY on installing TP's? I seems simple but... just want a good read through before I turn myself loose.

Not sure about DIY but i can go through it with you if you need to. Pretty simple and straight forward.

Front of the test pipes, there are two bolts. The rear of the test pipes that connect ot the headers, those are three bolts. You will need a swivel with the socket up near the headers. You can use a regular wrench with the other bolts that bolt up to the y pipe. That's basically it.

Yeah toward the rear where the test pipes connect to the exhaust there are 2 bolts u just need to unbolt. Now the part of the pipes that connect to the headers there are 3 bolts. 1 bolt is aimed at 45 degrees toward the ground and 2 aim upward toward the engine. To make this real easy. Spray some wd-40 on the bolts and get a breaker bar. These bolts take a **** load to take off the first time. The bolts faceing the engine are easy to get to /take off if u go thru the engine bay with like 2 feet of extensions. The others are pretty much straight forword.

The first breaking lose of the bolts is tough but just knowing this beforehand makes it easier. Its no big deal.

The whole installation process is pretty easy. Takes about 1.5 hr.
Good gains.

I finally tried this myself. Of course I had a different set of tp's installed before so that made it a bit easier. I sprayed the bolts down with WD40. You need a 14mm wrench (easier if its a GearWrench) maybe a 14mm stubby wrench, 14mm semi deep socket, extentions, and a swivel. Maybe a breaker bar since it the first time these bolts are coming off. Good luck man.

As members have mentioned, its pretty straight forward. Recommend that you spray nuts and blots the evening before with penetrating spray.

There is a difference between penetrating and wd40. Water gets on the bolts of the bottom of the header so there will be rust on there.

^Thanks for the reply guys. For the bolts facing upwards, is it easier to go through from the engine bay? There's one you can un-do under the intake tube (driver's side), but what about the passenger side?

What about the O2 sensors? I heard that it's tough to undo, also any special care I should give it since I don't want that part to be damaged?

o2 sensor was easy for me. I just used a regular wrench. It's hard to strip too.

Here's our manual. You wouldn't use our manual to install another company's products would you?

You can get them off with a long extension from the top of the bay but you really dont need to. I just took a flat wrench and took it off, takes a while but it will come off. Then when you re-install your test pipes, you will need to buy 4 bolts & nuts, the stock stuff wont work. You can also re-use the gaskets. Just make sure you spray it down with wd-40 and use a breaker bar.

Nice! On the manual I didn't see where you needed to use the socket extentions... was it on that third bolt facing the engine?

you just need to use it if you wanna use a ratchet to get the bottom bolt off.

Installed my test pipes this weekend. The toughest part by far was breaking the bolts loose on the driver cat that connects to the header. The damn steering shaft was getting in the way. (I didn't have the 2 ft extension, so I had to get under the car to unbolt that part.)

It's not hard, just time consuming.

PS. I see you're in California. Watch out for the cops! The smell is pretty obvious.

Isn't it true that if they can't physically see what you have on your car, the worst thing they could do is give you a referee/fix-it ticket???
