Default VDC light on after headers install

I have just installed my Crawford headers and every time that I start the engine I get a VDC and the slip light on. I have tested it, and without cranking if I turn the steering wheel the lights come on. Of course with the engine on, the lights are also on. What can be the problem????

I also think that I have loose lots of power after the install

Did you disconnect the steering linkage installing the headers?

On page 6 of the installation manual on their website it states...

"15. Remove steering shaft knuckle. (Make sure NOT to turn steering wheel at ALL, due to the airbag wiring cable)"

http://www.crawfordzcar.com/support/...stallation.pdf

Because if you move the steering wheel it will throw off the steering angle as far as VDC is concerned and then it goes into safe mode. Someone must have moved the steering wheel during the install.

So, if the problem is that the steering wheel is not at the same exact position than before, how is possible to know what is the correct possition?

During the install no one moved the steering wheel at all, but its possible one teeth jump to right or left.

If the problem is this, does the ECU run in safe mode and the performance is lower? I can say that I feel less power after the headers install

VDC is sensitive to steering wheel position. Any movement of the upper or lower steering linkage may effect the steering wheel position. I am sorry but I don't know how to fix it.

I will do try & error, one teeth right one teeth left and see what happends. But what really disapoints me is the lost in performance that I can feel, they are Crawford with test pipes son I wasn't expecting this.

I have little trust in the butt dyno. As with all intake an dexhaust mods, you have altered the torque and horsepower curves. You may have traded low end torque for peak horsepower.

check the A/F to determine lost power... when I added HFC I was lean and ECU was pulling timing... the car was a slug. Once A/F was adjusted I gained a bunch of trq.

Since OP has headers and test pipes A/F will be real lean.

I'm using an UTEC, so no there shouldn't be any timing pull

Any way today I'll make somo logs to see what happend with the AFR, because the car is slower, at low, mid and high rpms

I'm using the stock exhaust, with test pipes, and crawford headers, nothing in the intake side, and I'm using an UTEC. It's a revup engine. Really disapointed

Take it to the dealership and have them correct it if you can't do it yourself.

As said above, it's most likely the steering angle sensor.
