Default Hi Flow Cats - which one to get?

Hi everyone,

I am having issues trying to decide which hi flow cat to go with the nismo exhaust I am purchasing. I am looking for quality build but just as important is the noise it makes. I picked the Nismo exhaust because it is not as 'hardcore' sounding as other zorsts. I want a hi flow cat that is not going to compromise this i.e. I dont want anything that is going to make the car illegal, and I dont want something that is going to 'drone' whilst cruising and give me a headache! I have my eyes on Stillen but I would like everyone's views on what they run. It'll be a shame to spend all this money only for the cats to let me down!

For build quality I am looking for 60mm mandrel pipes etc.

Thanks

G

there's lots of choices out there in brand (usdm and jdm) and core material (mettalic, ceramic) and cell count (200, 300, 400).

FastIntentions and RandomTech HFC are also good choices. If you are considering FI in the future, pick metallic 300 cell, otherwise go with ceramic and save a few bucks...

i dont have any yet, but i'm leaning towards Berks through my research, not too expensive and seems good quality, so far lol

i'm staying NA, so metallics wont be any different then ceramics

Will ceramics yield less horsepower? Not that it really matters to me.
Will ceramics change the sound also?

metallics resists heat better, will usually be a tad bit louder, and usually are available in a smaller cell count which is less restrictive and make a lil more powa

I recommend a high-flow catalytic converter with a mounting bracket.

Maybe that's why I get this itty bitty rattle early through the RPM spectrum. What do you think ,David?

Im debating on getting the Berk's this spring, but am also weary that without a mounting bracket, they may end up cracking down the road. I have a Nismo exhaust as well, and a few years back, had a set of Crawfords crack on me only after about 5k miles. Unless the Berks are very light weight, or have excellent welds, im still on the fence. I have seen that Ultimate Racing has brackets on theirs... anyone run these with success?
