Default Tips on getting stock cats off

hey, i tried to install my nismo exhaust and hfc's last night, but the cats have a 3 bolt flange which seems hard to get to...anyone have any tips on the easiest way to get them off? from under the car....from the engine bay.... remove *such and such* first...? thanx!

I had a buddy do mine on a hoist, I was going to do them myself at first too, then I put the car on stands, rolled under the car, and said...**** this.

All he used was a long extention to reach the bolts, and leverage. Which I find is hard to get when a car is on stands. 1 Bolt he had to get from the engine bay too because he couldn't get it from underneath. Right hand side from the top I believe...

If you have access to a hoist, proper tools...go that route.

those three bolts, you will need swivel sockets. Very easy.

SEARCH!!!

But since I'm already here, you'll need to get the top ones off from the engine bay, with a couple of long extensions and a swivel. Pretty self-explanatory really. If not, maybe it's a little out of your mechanical league, no offense.

+1

You'll need a bit of extensions to get to them. PB Blaster and breaker bar makes it a LOT easier as well.

I did it without a tutorial, its very straight-forward. If not, failsafe's ref will get you.

You can reach from the top as well with a long extension. Hit them with some WD40 overnight before trying to get them off.

LOL I think itll be fine, I'm a certified tech. We always have shortcuts to get jobs done faster so I was just asking for efficiency purposes... I took a quick look at it last night around 2am and wanted to be prepared for tonight. Thanks guys and sorry for not searching. :-)
