Considering what everyone else has said.......I am going to say the same thing. Don't do it! Is is really necessary? The rear of the Z looks so nice with the twin pipes. Just get an HKS aftermarket exhaust and put that *itch on there!

I would say the reason to go side exhaust is for uniqueness. What about going center exhaust like stillen?

Ya, this is exactly why I am doing this!! I would like to do center exhaust but its way too expensive.

Side exit is a good way to differentiate from all the other z's. If i roll the rear bumper and make the side exit look good then it would make my Z look a little different.

you can do some mods like the guys on here do and set yourself apart from 90% of the Z's out there with fatass ex-soccer moms behind the wheel and make yourself look good.

there are tons of guys on here with the LMGT4's but I've yet to run into another Z running the Nismos, and I'm using pretty stereotypical equipment here.

there are a million ways "unique" can go very, very wrong.

golf clap for S3...ya gank the shot of a side exit off a viper or somethin? it could look good with some fairly extensive (by my lazy *** standards) fabrication...not worth it at all imo unless you have alot of other stuff done and youre showing the car and you want a super cool carbon fiber underbody diffuser/vortex generator out back instead of exhausts.

You could also get rid of everything behind your cats or headers and have no tips. That would be unique.

Though I have not tried this on my NZ, I did own an 05 Mustang which came from the Dealer with side pipes. After the left side pipe got bent backwards for the second time due to hitting a manhole cover that was slightly raised, I decided to revert to dual rear pipes. I personally strongly advise against it, having had the experience. On a positive note, the sound was awesome and the ladies loved the vibrations under the seat. Of course it is your call, but I strongly encourage you to put a lot of thought into it.

you would have to notch the gas tank....probably not the smartest way to route the exhaust.

You could always route the exhaust like this for a truly redneck look :-)

I haven't been under the car for quite awhile. I also just noticed I forgot to chop out the tips in the back. Quad tip exhaust FTMFW

Default Side Exhaust on SCCA GT3 racecar

http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y92...=350zgt3-2.jpg

Here's a picture of what the side exhaust looks like on my GT3 spec 350Z sillouette racer. Keep in mind it's a purpose-built tubeframe race car. The exhaust came out that side because the plumbing and layout of the chassis allowed it. Not the same for a production FM-platformed car like the Z.

This car uses SR20VE power and the exhaust is loud enough (even with a Magnaflow race muffler) that you need earplugs to avoid hearing damage when driving it. More details can be found under 'project vehicles' at: www.nissansportmag.com

I was surprised nobody mentioned it but I think the op should stray away from what has already been done (jun side exhaust) and go all out with some stackers!!!! Maybe in his case don't even let the pipes go all the way through the top just flip them up into the cabin and break the power window/door switches...

well if it's cut out of the side skirts Dodge Viper style, and the rear bumper's cutouts are filled in it could look ok?
