Hey guys,
I posted a week back asking what you guys think of the EvoTT vs the HKS Hi-Power. I was very hesistant to switch ebcause I lvoe the EvoTT's exhaust tips and the deep growl. However, the crazy low-end power loss (since my car is NA - not TT like it was designed for) was driving me insane, plus the 2k to 2.5k drone was way too loud for my fiance (well it was loud even for me so it was giving her a headache)
Anyway, last night my buddy George sold me his HKS since he is getting ready to sell his car and I couldn't be happier with the switch to the HKS! Here's a quick comparision for any N/A drivers who wants the EvoTT vs. the HKS
Greddy EvoTT
Pros:
-Sexy Rolled Ti Tips
-Deep growling sound (much like a muscle v8)
Cons:
-Extremely loud (its DB is not street legal)
-Drones between 2k to 2.5k drives you insane (not sure if TT cars would experience this)
-Power Loss for non-TT cars
HKS-Hi Power
Pros:
-Gorgeous Ti Tips
-Sexy Canister "V" design
-Sounds beautiful! Much like an exotic v6 like a 911 exhaust note
-Gains beautifully throughout the RPM range that you can really feel
Cons:
-Exhaust tips are not rolled
So as you can see in terms of an N/A car, you'll benefit more from the HKS but the EvoTT would be considered more "sexy" to some people because of its perfectly rolled tips design.
I'll have some posts soon but anyway, hope you guys can see why I made the switch. And contrary to belief the HKS soudns beautiful and exotic - not ricy or raspy at all
My EvoTT will be posted FS shortly. Thanks guys!

and a sound clip!! i'll be wanting the HKS in a couple months, but i worry it might be raspy. i just put on HFC, so would that make it raspy?
and after you post the sound clip, tell me if the clip does the exhaust justice, never heard this one in person!!

I know the Greddy is super attractive because of the the rolled tips but omg the HKS responses 10x better on my n/a Z. I - coming from more of the exterior mods side - even feel like it was holding me back way too much with the 2.75 TD design.

I will try and get a clip up but the ones I found that's similar to how it sounds in person are listed below (though definitely NOT 100% because this exhaust sounds so sexy in person

Ahhh...that would make a lot of sense. I think with a TT setup it would make the EvoTT shines even more. You can always sell your HKS locally and buy mine though
it would have made me want to save for FI sooner...but glad u like ur HKS
OMG I want your TT! I used to have HKS before but had to switch to Greddy Evo2 to because of my TS diffuser. Ended up getting rid of that too cuz it was just too quiet.
Does TT relocate the EVAP canister like the Evo2?

If you need the EVAP reloc kit I can arrange to have you swap for that too
i got the Berk ceramic HFC. i'm in class right now so i'll check out those videos later, but i've heard probably most of the videos out there. just on some i get that sense that it could be raspy, and i dont want to have anything raspy/ricey at all!! Honestly was making me consider the nismo exhaust vs the HKS. i just needa find some one and hear this in person!
edit: and i figure with the HFC, the HKS will do even better!! or atleast make the HFC do better lol i cant wait!

It's not raspy at all. I was really afraid of that before I switched over but after going for a ride in my buddy's car before he sold it to me I was set! I'm nto sure why it sounds raspy on videos but we all know the quality of the youtube videos can't and will not justify the sound of the exhaust note in person.
I totally forgot that you're in Nor Cal..too far! lol
I used to have UTR resonated TP, Crawford HFC, and Fast Intentions HFC mated to the HKS when I had it.
UTR didn't really rasp for the TP but sounded very loud.
I prefer the sound of Crawford to FI. But definitely get at least HFC since the HKS by itself isn't loud enough(if you have the new version).

I completely agree with the analysis of the EVO TT. It drones around 2k-2.5k rpm, as my gf complained every time we go out with the Z. I'm not sure about the power loss though as i felt considerably more pulls with the EVO TT setup vs. HKS. But that could be due the types of mods i have. HKS sounded bad *** though as i have to agree. Evo TT just sounds like a freaking V8 with steroids. Either way, you can't go wrong with HKS. Enjoy!!
ahh i love those videos! i cant wait! i just got the hfc, then will be getting the powerlab spacer, THEN exhaust around summer. HKS is probably the winner.
BTW, how is an xpipe much better than the ypipe? i figure i can guess why lol just easier air flow? but how much different can it possibly be?

I think the Greddy is 10x louder and some people love it but it was too much for me haha. My fiance wasn't complaining but she did say this: "It was too loud for me and was giving me a headache but I knew you love it and didn't wanna hurt your feelings." <-
Aww...I love her! After taking the HKS for a longer drive today I can confidently said it was the best decision I have ever made on an exhaust thus far. Its the 5th and hopefully final exhaust I have to buy
