I don't think there's a replacement for that piece. I'd just go with some washers to try and make it fit.

Oh and I passed on the GTspec braces after reading this thread. https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exhaust/351336-gt-spec-fitment-issues.html

Really glad to hear that someone is going HFCs with the Bassani. hiz-n-herz was talking about getting them in the future with his Bassani setup, however, I think he is going to wait for a little while.. not sure.

Regardless, because of hiz-n-herz sound clips that were posted in his Bassani thread, I purchased the Bassani exhaust about a week and a half ago. I must say, thoroughly impressed/pleased with my purchase. If I had to spend the $950 again... I would do it in a heartbeat.

My next mod is most likely going to be MD 5/16" Copper Thermal and I was debating on the Berk HFCs. Really glad to hear that someone else is going to test it out! Looking forward to hearing your opinions and conclusions on the purchase.

Seems to be that you have the same outlook on this as I do...

I absolutely dread driving such a beautiful car and hearing that aweful sound. It should sound exotic... just as the Bassani does so well. I think you should be okay in reducing rasp in comparison to other exhausts due to the X pipe. I suppose we'll see though...

This is probably a silly question, but this Bassani will hook up to the 07+'s without needing any sort of modification right? That's with the Berk HFC's.

Only difficulty w/the Bassani setup had to do w/the rear bumper on the NISMO--aligning the tips...but the system was flexible enough to handle that. Based on what I've seen posted, this bolts up nicely to 03+ Z w/the stock bumper. That said, mine is aligned--I'll have pics to go along w/the audio when the HFCs go in.

It bolted up great to my 05, a little tight, but nice. However, last night I noticed at higher RPMs (3k-5k) I am getting a vibration. I don't really notice it unless I'm really listening for it. Although, I don't think I want to leave it like that.. not to mention, I don't know what it sounds like driving by someone...

I'll have audio/video clips to share...one thing to bear in mind...I am currently testing a prototype intake system from PRM and may not have time to switch to my stock w/K&N drop in set up. BTW PRM post is forthcoming!!

Default Bassani w/Berk HFC Review

Morning to All -

I'm just up after a long night of finals and thesis paper writing--finally going graduate next week w/a hard earned masters in literature.

So...the HFCs went in yesterday and, just let everyone know up front, there is a little bit of rasp up around 3.5-4k rpm range. It's slight compared to results from the Berk TPs and I believe the primary culprit is pipe sizing--the HFC 2.36” are going into the Bassani’s 2.25” pipe.

In any event, let me grab a cup of coffee (and wake up) and I’ll get some A/V posted here shortly.

Great cant wait. I have sold my nismo and have been waiting for a clip to see what the hfc sound like with this exhaust before buying it. How big of a difference is the before hfc and after? the nismo got real loud and raspy.

It seems to be such a car to car and install to install issue. I have had both Berks and FI HFC's on my car with the Nismo exhaust. These metallic cats are as close as I would go to test pipes with the Nismo exhaust. I get just a tiny bit of rasp at ~3500 rpm ONLY when the car is cold. This completely goes away after the car is warm.

I have had the HKS, TurboXS, and Nismo exhausts on my car both with and without HFC's (I can get these done in about an hour now ). By far I love the sound of the Nismo, and would love to hear the Bassani in person to see how it compares. The TurboXS had way to much rasp with HFC's, and although the HKS was nice I just find the Nismo sound more to my liking, enough to give up any potential performance advantage of the true dual.

I recently had a problem with a crack in the flex section of the Nismo Y-pipe. I know problems have been reported in this area in the past with non-stock cats. I put the stock Y-pipe in place until the replacement arrives, and despite any diameter differences in the pipes it sounds almost exactly the same.

Also, about the black underbracing contacting the exhaust. This is common with any aftermarket system. Just add a stack of washers between the brace and the 4 fowardmost bolts to displace the brace downward. This will eliminate the contact.

Default Bassani w/Berk HFC Review

Ok...first things first. The A/V is at the link below:

You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1E3xGhaYOWk

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1E3xGhaYOWk&hl=en" target="_blank" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed>

It's not the best A/V but conditions today (you'll see it is raining) were somewhat prohibitive.

Power: without the benefit of a Dyno run, this is merely subjective. However, torque/rwhp seemed comparatively to increase...the car bolts in the low rpm range with just a little more force than the stock set up--let say half a G

Aesthetics: again, don’t like the rasp--but it’s bearable and seems to be mitigated w/everything warmed up. The comment I got at the shop was, “sound like one of those exotics...you know, like a Ferrari.” Not sure that’s exactly accurate but the sound is markedly different from the stock and the HKS systems I ran.

Impressions: I'm relatively pleased but not satisfied. I have a feeling that matching the piping diameters will go a long way to eliminating the rasp. The techs at the shop mentioned that I might try running slightly larger exhaust piping--something slightly larger than the 60mm diameter of the Berks. They warned that I’d likely lose at bit of power (torque) but noticeable?

I only know of a few 2.5” systems--right of the top, the Fast Intentions Intimidator and (I think) the NISMO S-Tune are 2.5”. However, if I can get my hands on a 3” system, I may just try that.
