Honestly, just go to a meet, and hear it out yourself. People can tell you anything...as the sound of exhaust is rather subjective. Only you can be the person to make the decision in the end. Check out youtube...there are TONS of nismo exhaust clips on there. In my opinion however, I do think that the Nismo exhaust sounds like the stock...just louder. As you can see, some members don't think that, hence why I said it's subjective. By the sound of it, it looks like the Nismo exhaust is for you. Just my .02 cents

But I have a feeling that people like you click on these threads just to flame and make yourselves feel better at the expense of appearing to be an a**hol*.

Is it just me or does the Tanabe Super Hyper retain the VQ sound, yet is louder and looks WAY better. I just wish it wasn't so expensive..

I'm in the same boat, and am looking at Magnaflow, greddy sp2, and the Tanabe super hyper. I already have HFC's, they didn't do much for the sound. A LITTLE louder.

i have the Tanabe SHSE and i love it. the Nismo was a little to racy sounding for me.

I have a post in the intake and exhaust section as well as in the new owners section with exhaust clips..

Thank you for your comment. I think I will probably take your advice on this and many others that tell me it is very close to the factory sound but louder. I appologize for asking a NOOB question to the others that I offend. Sometimes a SEARCH dont give you maybe the answer you want or you want to hear more answeres from diffrent people. Just think, if people didnt ask some of the same questions over again and get diffrent point of views, all questions would be asked and answered and there would be no need for a forum anymore but simply for a refrence.

Thank you

Nick

If you want your exhaust to sound louder but EXACTLY the same, then get high flow cats or test pipes. The nismo is louder and sounds very similar, but not exactly the same.

lol thanks for completely disregarding my (as well as 2 or 3 others) comment about the NIsmo not sounding VERY close to stock. Close....mayyyyybe. VERY close...no.

but yeah check out this thread

https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exhaust/355633-tanabe-super-medalion-hyper-apexi-n1-nismo.html

according to some of the guys who responded (whom i assume know what theyre talking about) says that the Tanabe retains the stock sound better than the Nismo.

Thank you for your response. Another major factor as why I wanted to go with Nismo or put high flow cats or test pipes on the Stock is because of the look. I dont want a diffrent looking rear then the factory look and I know that the Nismo Exhaust retains that look. All these freakin Exhausts are expensive man haha. Oh well, Ill see what happens though. Ive just had some expierences with a lot of exhausts especially on my 98 Maxima I had like 5 years ago. I remember going through about 5 diffrent exhaust till the guy at the shop threw a Flowmaster on there and was like try this one out. I did and Loved it ever since lol. The thing that pisses me off about exhausts is most of the time you have to purchase and install, drive it then notice if you like it or not lol. Thanks though man, I appreciate it!

Nick

EDIT: Found this site. This helped me out a bunch also!!!

^^dont like the fact that most of those clips are on the dyno

kinda hear the dyno too, which makes it a little harder to hear the exhaust
