Default Please explain the Nismo Exhaust?

Hi Guys. I did a search and I am trying to find a specific answer. I have an 05 Z 6-spd and I absoulutly LOVE the stock exhaust sound on the car. It sounds so smooth in my opinion. I just added the Nismo CAI as my first Mod and I really am interested in the Nismo Exhaust. Can someone or anyone who has it, tell me if it sounds EXACTLY like the Factory Exhaust, but Louder? I definatly want it a little bit louder but would love to retain the note of the factory OEM exhaust. I have seen Stillen and other exhaust but I really want to Stick with Nismo. If it sounds the same but is Louder, I am interested. Can someone help me out on this? Thank you so much guys.

Nick

It is the same but louder, btw. But you can save $1200 and just replace your resonator with straight pipe. I did that originally and sounded just the same.

Hmm. I didnt know that. Not a bad idea honestly! I appreciate you getting back to me on this though. Im continuesly debating on what exhaust to go with and figured sticking with OEM stuff would be better. I just dont want a ricer ride! Heres a pic of the Z. Just got it in January

I read up on the Plenium Spacer. Do you feel a diffrence with it? I hear it will add some horsepower and I didnt think the price was bad at all for it. Just herd you have to change the strut bar?

yet there is an entire section dedicated to intake/exhaust (where these type of questions belong). how hard it is to look over a site and maybe find an answer before asking one that has been asked many times before. plus exhaust sound is personal anyway. one person can tell you it sounds great when another one can tell you it sounds like crap. it is a matter of personal like or dislike when it come to this subject. my suggestion would be to get out into your local z club or car scene, meet those that have different exhausts, and listen for yourself. then make up your mind whether you want to pay for it or not.

I have the Nismo CAI and exhaust on my 05 and love it. Like others have said. Same note only louder. I too was concerned that it would change the note because I think the Z's note is awesome. You will not be disappointed.

dude, please please please take my advice. I HAVE a nismo exhaust so i know what im talking about.

if you love the stock tone and want EXACT same sound but a little louder, dont get the nismo. Trust me on this dude. I was on the same boat as you and the nismo dissapointed a little. I mean, I've grown to like it now, but if you want the exact same sound but louder, dont do it.

Keep your stock exhaust, and put high flow cats. That would retain the sound, but make it louder. Straight pipes (test pipes) would work too.

if you get the 5/16ths plenum spacer you don't have to change your strut bar, just add the spacers that come with the plenum spacer kit.

the funny thing is the member you are referring this comment to has been a member for 2 years over you

I understand the search button debate but the search police on this forum are worse than the repost militia on other forums. Dont take the time to type out a full paragraph about how they should search instead of typing a one sentence line with the answer to their original question and then maybe including a second sentence of something along the lines of "for future reference try the search button, lots of useful stuff there ".

Sorry to get off topic, good luck on getting your answer
