Default HFC vs. Test pipes

OK. I have Strupps headers and a new GReddy Ti-C dual sitting in boxes and while waffling on whether to get HFCs or test pipes. The Z is going to be getting a Vortech implant in the next few days and I want to make sure that my exhaust setup is not going to cause me any problems, nor throw any unsuspecting codes.

Any thoughts/ideas?

Test pipe will cause codes. I would recomend you dont do tomuch at once. Get the SC installed and all the bugs worked out before you throw more variables into the mix.

But if you are getting a tune at the same time as the install then I would get a set of ceramic hfc's.

+ test pipes and Tic will be louder then hell!

Walker's got the right idea... A supercharger is a big addition. Make sure you've got everything tuned and bolted down and not making any weird new noises one thing at a time. That way it will be easier to pinpoint any issues.

As far as the exhaust goes... yeah, be careful with making it too loud. That SC is gonna add that loud supercharger whine (which can be cool) but combined with a loud exhaust and test pipes, some guys cars come out sounding like jet airplanes. So some good HFC's could be a good idea. Good luck though, I know I wish I could have an SC.

OK -

So NEVER get ceramic HFC's if your going forced induction. ALWAYS get either metallic HVC's or testpipes/resonated testpipes.

True dual 2 1/2" exhaust and headers, will be well worth it.

Add it all at once. There is NO reason not to add exhaust bolt ons. Save yourself additional time, tuning (which is expensive when done properly).

Are you putting smaller pulley on the blower, doing oil pan spacer, and additional fuel system mods?

Finally getting around to installing my headers and exhaust and COMPLETELY forgot to order the HFCs. I guess that is because I didn't know which would be best to get. From what I have discovered so far, the metallic substrate cats are the way to go since a Vortech will be added to this setup. Any recommendations, because I DEFINITELY DON'T want a raspy sounding exhaust.

I've had stock cats, test pipes, and HFC with my Vortech. Go with the HFC. test pipes give an ugly rasp no matter what anyone tells you. It does, and not much you can do about it. When I had test pipes I went as far as having resonators installed because I did not like the rasp. Sounds good when at WOT, but no one drives like that all the time. I have the Stillen headers, Stillen Dual Exhaust, and a good set of HFC. Sounds good, and best of all, performs great.

On your Vortech, you keepeing the 3.33 pulley or upgrading to the 3.12 or 2.87?

The question is WHICH HFC to use? I have read that only cats with metal substrate should be used with the Vortech, and then with a minimum density
