Default Help with 03 down pipe installation

I'm sure this has been asked in some form before but I need some direction. I have an 03 350z that's stock aside from an injen cai and Nismo cat back. My down pipe has a hole in it, so like an idiot I googled "350z down pipe" and bought the first set I saw.

What I now have is two very nice down pipes but they are too short and do not come together in the back so I can install them.

My question is simply what do I need to install this style down pipe on an 03 for minimum $.

Thanks in advance for your help...

Best thing to do now is to find out the return policy, if there is one. If not, then you have been a victim of ownage.

Here's a link to what I ordered. I don't think it's meant for turbo applications. If there's anyway I can use these by adding an additional pipe that would rock.

The description says “down pipe."
Photo looks like catalytic converter.
For $83 I am not surprised that whatever you got does not fit.

Ok, so here's what I need to find out. The braiding on the pipes that connect to my headers is ripped so i need to replace them. My garage told me it was my down pipe so thats what I picked up. I'm looking to buy a new Z so I'm trying to get this fixed affordably. What do you guys recommend? As I said the pipes that connect to my headers with the flex braid stuff are bad.

Lets no qubble about semantics. You need:

a. OEM catalytic converters
b. Aftermarket catalytic converters or
c. Test pipes

Ok, I've been looking around and what I have looks like a pair of resonated test pipes. So how do they get installed. The stock cats that bolt onto the headers are way longer than anything I'm seeing aftermarket so do I need to cut the stock set up, weld on flanges and bolt these on or is there another way?

Somebody out there has got to be able to give me some useful help on this.

All of the items that I mentioned are interchangeable. They will fit like the catalytic converters above.

that would be the Y pipe for the stock systems and some aftermarket pieces. check here:

MAN !! lets us agree on one thing : the outflow of the car is from 5 parts they come this way :
1) headers (direct connect to the engin) .....then
2) catalytic converters (just like the one you have and they are 3 kinds :a)catalytic converters ,b) high flow cats ,c) test pips)
3) y pips (or H pips )
4) down pips
5) mufflers

what are you looking for ??????

#4 is actually the mid pipe, not a "down" pipe though some call it that (not sure why since it is horizontal instead of vertical)

Please take your car to a competent mechanic because this is worse than a blindfolded guessing game.
