Default Getting a Pop Charger! Few questions...

Hi guys, I think I am going to go a popcharger. From what I have read they all make Intake mods only make small gains so I might as well go with the one that is cheapest (but still good quality) and makes the best noise!

I have 4 questions first.

1. I think in Australia you can get a defect/fine if the pod filter is exposed in the engine bay. Is it possible to extend the heat shield to cover the Pod or will it ruin how it works? The chances of me getting booked for it are very slim though. Thoughts?

2. Does it just go on the end of the stock tubing or do you get another larger diameter tube with the popcharger? If I was to buy a better tube (for looks and airflow) what should I get? Any photo's of suggestions?

3. How often do I have to clean the filter in normal conditions? Is it hard to get out?

4. Should I install myself or get it done professionally? How hard is it?

Thanks!

Thanks for the flame post and I did search first. I bet there are none about whether they are legal in NSW Australia. I know that is the way they come. I want the sound of it but I don't want a defect either.

I think you will be ok, it is so easy to switch back to stock if you need to pass inspection or something. Why would it be illegal to have an aftermarket intake?

In Australia it is illegal to have an exposed filter not in an enclosed box. I love the sounds of a Pop but I may have to go Stillen or Mishimoto because of it.

I believe the Stillen is very similar to the PC with a better heat shield.

If you need the filter in a box look at the K&N Typhoon Air Intake.

I haven't yet installed mine either, but in really quickly reading the paper that came with it, I need to drill somewhere to install the heat shield? Is that true?

^^^ You have to make two little holes where the heat shield attaches to the snorkel - not a big deal.
"You'll then need to drill or punch 2 holes in the plastic snorkel aligned with the screw holes in the heat shield."

It's a self-tapping screw, so you don't have to drill. It's a lot easier to drill, though. That's some thick plastic and there is no room to work with unless you have small hands and a small screwdriver.
