I can afford it fine, I just think people should shutup for a second and grow a brain and think of things like this.

I'm about to get the custom piping but I need to order some new tips since I don't want to cut off my stock ones. Does anyone want to save me some time and tell me what size the inlet should be? Also if anyone knows of a good place to buy tips let me know.

You didn't learn to read very well did you? There are great sounding exhausts out there but then there are the systems that make your car rasp and sound like *** that go for over a grand. Does that seem smart to you?

I don't have this mod but my friend does and it sounds awesome. Zero rasp, and the Z still maintains its signature sound but louder and much more aggressive sounding. Far from a "Civic fart Can". You guys can diss me all you like, I still give these guys and others props for bringing a little grassroots motorsports into the Z community.

You should check around your area. There have been several Zs around here practically giving away their stock exhausts and you can cut those tips off to get the stock look.

I think that sounds terribly, more towards the fart can sound. I think the muffler delete with tips still keeps the Z's sound. This video sounds like a honda coming down the street.

hey guys im new and looking to make my 350 purchase soon! Well anyways I have a ? for people that have done this and what not. What is the the stock size of the exhaust pipe, are those manderal bends, and is anyone running custom pipe from the cat all the way back? Increasing the size of the pipe maybe to 2.5 to 3"(again I dunno what stock is) depending if your na or tt setup strait from the the cat, test pipe, or turbo back will increase power no matter what but may sound like **** haha. Most 350 RACE CARS(touring, gp, etc.) aren't running cat back there running strait pipes. but anyway thats my rant and I hope someone answers my? And nice informative site by the way! MOTOR ON!!!!

I just got mine done. I frickin' love it!! It sounds so good-and I did not give a **** about a hp gain/loss on other exhausts. I had almost hit the "purchase" button on a nismo s-tuned exhaust for $1100 and I decided to try this. Man am I glad I did! I still need to paint the piping flat black, but I did it a little different too-so it flows better. Also, you cannot see the piping unless you get down on your knees, so it's not a big deal.

Sorry, this is the only other pic I could find of behind it, but you really can't see it unless you bend over and really look for it.

It's all in what your'e after. The stock system is made pretty stout and appears to be mandrel bent. Rather than tear up my existing system, I bought a complete system from the Y pipe back for $125. This way I can build a jig to mock up anything I want to try.

If you look at the power gains from most after market systems, it's not dollar wise in my book, about $100 per HP. So unless you just have money to burn or just have to be able to say "I have XXX system" it's not that great of an investment.

Now if your'e looking to change the sound of the system, then there are lots of options. The one in this thread is a nice little change.

The stock pipes appear to be a 2 1/4 ID pipe, not bad for a smaller motor. Increasing the size right after the Y pipe may not be a bad idea. The original resonator is of a straight through design, so swapping it out is not going to add much for you. It's small, 12" from end to end and about 7" wide ovate style.

So the real sound dampening comes from the final muffler. Now I wanted to stay with a stock look. So the idea for me is to modify the stock muffler to achieve the sound I want. I haven't cut it open yet to see what they did inside, but hopefully this weekend I'll have some time. Once inside I'll have the opportunity to do as I please and retain a stock look.
