Pretty neat idea. Wait... hold the phone, you mean you didn't pay for a taiwanese exhaust re-branded by a japanese company and sold for 6x what it's worth? WHAT A PIECE OF ****!

just kidding, I like it, but it's not for me.

i have a friend who is a service manager at a nissan dealership i used to work at. He has a z also. i pulled up for an oil change and revved to let him hear my car without lookin at it..he said it sounded awesome..i took him for a little drive and he loved it. he has been lookin for aftermarket exhausts but after he heard mine in person he went out the next day and did the same thing and is very satisfied.

But you'd have to leave city limits...At least in TX discharging a firearm in city limits is a no-no...

to each their own. I have to admit, after reading this, I was bored, and I took mine off drove it a block, turned around and put the muffler back on. it sounded like *** IMHO. I'm just not a fan.

i think people are misunderstanding the sound of the exhaust. It is absolutly nothing like i thought. Not at all like most imports without mufflers. i came across this thread and decided to do this instead of paying 650 for a used exhaust (injen true dual) like my friend did (which by the way he is looking to get rid of now because he doesn't like the sound). first thing he said when i took him for a ride was wow i didn't think it would sound this good. It was everything i was looking for in an exhaust, a stock sound just louder. So for all who say its cheap or trashy, all i can say is i saved a couple hundred bucks and i am completely satisfied with how it came out.

I am doing this soon. I unbolted my muffler a while back because I have to constantly be ripping into, or putting somethin back together, and I was satisfied with the sound. I have an exhaust shop that should do this for under $100... definitely wanna hit em up this week.

Not to worry, I think it's a good idea. I'm 50 and most of what I see hear is pesky little children arguing about which purchased system is better. Seems that if you tag an Asian name on it and a high price tag, it's got to be good.

I was glad to hear some one try something that doesn't involve a pre made system.

That aside, is there anyway you could match the color of the pipes? Maybe painted it with high-temperature paint? I think it looks kinda weird like this....you can see the left pipe is silver, but on the right you can only see the tip....

that's b/c the pipe to the right tip is high behind the bumper running across to the section connected to the left tip. so you can't even see that part even if it was painted.i will eventually paint it ALL with high temp black paint so you will only see tips..but haven't gotten around to it.

I agree with both parties, I upgraded big time coming from a focus to a Z. So I won't hack up my car b/c of money issues. I justed saved, but my friend did it to his and it sounds awesome. since I upgraded, I will not do anything halfazz. I did it to my focus by doing my own painting, making a cai and a muffler shop inspired exhaust, so I know about doing your own mods and that's great. GREAT JOB!

well team "po folks" you would be glad to know the "other half"
likes your idea too. I was at my track day with Chin Motorsports last
weekend and Blake Fuller was there with his Braille Batteries racing Z
and he had a modified stock exhaust similiar to what i posted about
before-he removed his axle back section and just ran a pipe from the
end of the mid pipe with the proper bends to route it to the left bumper
exit that had a flared tip. Must not be too bad of an idea if a pro is doing
it.
