Default Test Pipes + HKS Exhaust?

Well I tried doing a little searching on here, and couldn't find what I wanted to find

I know there are some people here who have, but overall, is it worth adding test pipes to the HKS Dual Exhaust, the whole system.

I planned on doing some more mods to my car like a reflash, JWT Clutch Combo, and a reflash, but I figured that since they have to remove my exhaust for the clutch [i think], might as well add test pipes then.

I want to know your guys' opinions and if there's a difference in sound. I think I wanted resonated test pipes, I'll recheck and see if that is what I want. I know there are some clips of the G35 with HKS Exhaust and Test Pipes, but the sound quality isn't that decent.

How much would this affect my horsepower, if any, and how will it affect the sound, [i.e. louder, etc]?
And as far as installation go, how difficult would it be, and what would need to be done?

Thanks guys.

Well I know for a fact that your car will become louder with test pipes. You will also gain like 8-10whp. Installation is not hard, just a little difficult to get access to the bolts in the top flanges of the test pipes. You will need an extension.

If you are going to add test pipes, I recommend you go with piping diameter of 2.36" and not 2.5". You HKS exhaust has 2.36" diameter piping and I believe if you had 2.5" test pipes that could be a raspy situation. For smoother exhaust flow I would go with 2.36" test pipes.

As for the sound, I will let the people who have that setup comment about that.

+1 to extensions. I'd also recommend a breaker bar and something to cut through the rust on the nuts/bolts (I forget the name of the spray I used... but it was really good and made the job tons easier @_@). An extra pair of hands helps as well.

Installation is straight forward. You just remove 5 bolts and 1 nut from each cat, put the new TP in place of the cat, and bolt it up.

Test pipes are a popular mod. You can pay $200 plus. Is it worth the $$$ to you? I don't know.

Is the reason the CEL light comes on because it's missing the O2 sensor or what?

No yaar.

Your car has theses pipes called "catalytic converters" (cats). Nissan put them there to burn gases that can harm the environment. O2 sensors are attached to the cats and act as detectors on whether or not your cats are doing their job (burning the gases). Once you remove the catalytic converters and replace them with "test pipes" (empty pipes), your O2 sensors will detect the harmful gases and send a signal to the ECU and likewise a CEL will appear telling you that something is not working properly.

As of right now, there is no fix for the CEL on the HR engines. Having the CEL on will not effect performance at all.
