Default AEM+Dual Borla+ groundkit dyno

I'm speechless and shocked! I wen to dyno my car today and did 2 runs. It's such a dissappointment. Here is my car info:

Touring 6spd
5986 miles
Dual Borla Exhaust put on for 2 months
AEM put on for 5 months
Ground kit 5 months.

I tried to reset the ECU via the pedal gas method and the CEL blinks as other people talked about. Then went to dyno today. Dynoed in 4th gear. Follow the break in rules. Mobil 1 full synthetic oil change at 4k miles. Temperature at 88.4 F.

I think thats right on par for a 4th gear dyno. 5th is the 1:1 and thats the gear that gets in the 240 hp range.

yep... 2003Z is right. If you find out the 4th gear ratio, you can convert your numbers to true HP, though.

When I got my car dynoed he did it in 4th and 5th and the numbers were only a few hp different. Is it upposed to make that much of a difference?

So why doesn't everyone just pull in 5th gear? Does it depend on the dyno? I started a thread regarding the diff. between 4th and 5th gear pulls but received no response so maybe someone can shed some light here..

Hey Z Phat Z.. What is the build number of your Z, and what kind of daily commute does your car go thru? The only thing I see that could poss. hamper perf. is the temp. that day, but 25HP??? If you check my sig below I did that dyno @ 1300 miles, with just a K & N and a groundkit; broken in with freeway driving only. Just wondering if any of this makes a diff.

Did you go to the same dyno both times? What was the weather like on each run?

Driving is a little of both. Some light driving some spirit driving. I went to the 1/4 mile track about 4 times. I don't remembered my VIN but I got it in Late September. At the track, my best time so far is 14.1 at 99.8 MPH.

Sand:

The 2 dynos was witht he same machine and back to back run.

Don't worry about it. Your dyno seems to be just inaccurate to the low end, because your 1/4 mile times are basically on par. Plus, you can tell Borla and the intake seem to be making a difference because your HP isn't sloping off as steeply beyond about 6200. In fact, it isn't sloping off at all. If you're really concerned about true HP, try a different dyno.

When I dynoed there was 1 HP difference in the 4th vs 5th gear pull. We have seen stock cars dyno 227 before, with your mods it is hard to tell if anything was gained. Some see the gains while others dont. The car is a blast to drive regardless.

Yes, regardless of the low number, the car runs pretty good. My 1/4 time is on par and if i drive better i kow i can get into the 13s. When you guys dyno, do you push the gas until the rev limiter kicks in or just right b-4 it kicks in? Thanks.

You know, one good way to determine how tweaked out a motor is from the factory is to look at other vehicles in the manufacturers line up that use the same engine and see what kind of HP/TQ is being generated. Nissan puts what I think is the same engine into the Pathfinder, Murano and Maxima. These vehicles generate from 240-245HP.

The 350Z generated 287HP. This is a 17% increase from intake/exhaust/fuel mapping tweaks that Nissan engineered into the 350Z. I don't know how much power %-wise you guys have been able to get out of previous naturally aspirated vehicles that you have owned, but 17% seems like a lot to me. I just don't think a lot of performance is left on the 350Z without affecting driveability (ie lightening flywheel, etc.)...I'm not accounting for drivetrain loss, of course, but Nissan's HP specs are at the engine anyway.

What do you guys think?
