help with turboxs exhaust install
hey guys, a friend and i are at the shop trying to install the turboxs exhaust.
it did not come with the y-pipe, but we can install it with the stock right?
can anyone explain or give directions? were at the mid pipe, where it flares out on the turboxs exhaust, where do we put those springs?

You need their y-pipe to install the rest of the TurboXS exhaust.
Look at the complete exhaust. The TurboXS exhaust's y-pipe is angled to one side, where as the other y-pipes aren't (one clue). Another would be that it's a slip on fitting between the y-pipe and the mid-pipe with a spring to have even distribution when tightening bolts, which you cannot install to other y-pipes (another clue). BTW, the springs go between the y-pipe flange and the mid-pipe flange (I'm pretty sure, as it's the only logical place). The long bolts they give you goes through the spring and the nut is what tightens and allows the spring to compress, applying spring force opposite to the direction of the nut being tightened (which leads to tighter nuts/bolts at the flanges).
You just wasted your time. You should've waited until you got all the parts first, before getting too excited and started installing parts, without even looking at what the complete system looks like, what it involves, etc.

Why would you install the exhaust when:
-the exhaust system is advertised as a cat-back (all pictures clearly show 3 pieces: y-pipe, mid-pipe, muffler)
-you received test pipes (so.. what happened to the piece that goes between the test pipes and mid-pipe, aka y-pipe?)
-the mid-pipe is to be installed at an angle, unlike the stock one which is straight (again from pictures, it's obvious and this should bring up questions)
-you don't even know what goes where nor how (can you seriously not use common sense and/or logic to find out where the springs go and how?)
Also, why would you give up on trying to return the test pipes and get the y-pipe without paying a penny when:
-it's their fault for not shipping properly (although it's your fault for accepting the wrong piece - you may pay for shipping back the test pipes)
-you bought it at MRC and they most likely keep a record of who bought what , when, and payment type (if credit/debit used, then you can clearly show details of the transaction)
BTW, bump your thread only once per day. Any more may cause the thread to be subject to deletion.

how am i not thinking straight because they sent a bogus order.
and we didn't attempt installing. i was at work and my mom had dropped the parts off for me. i didn't see anything until it was at work.
and the reason i have a feeling turboxs is going to give me a hard time is because the receptionist is a moron.
and you can close the thread.

Close the thread? Good idea. That way, you can save yourself even more embarassment and perhaps even a ban (you can go read the TOU if you want to know why you could've been banned). Your wish is granted.
