Thumbs up Injen vs AEM - DYNO CHARTS!!!!!

Sup guys, long time thread reader, first time poster.
Anyways, I couldn't decide which intake system to get so I had one of my friends who owns a shop get me an Injen and AEM cold air intake system. We went to go dyno test them today and let me say the results speak for themselves and the winner I kepted on my car.

The dyno results are listed in this order; Stock, AEM, then Injen.

Sorry AEM, but you didn't come out on top this time. AEM followers flame on.

Specs:
2003 Nissan 350Z w/ 19" rims and 12,000 miles.
Completely stock engine.

Dyno tests were ran same day, same car, hood open w/ industrial fan in front of car. The car never left the dyno so we had to install the intakes on the dyno, but we removed the front bumper before we strapped the car down.

Next up, Injen's Dual Exhaust. stay tuned............

situr80- Any graphs you can post? Actual gains and/or losses would be helpful rather than just a 1,2,3 finish. What was the air temp when you dyno'd? Were the dynos done with the engine warmed up and at normal operating temp? Any additional info you can provide would be appreciated.
Thanks,

We dyno tested the car today, which is about mid 80s and slightly humid. The car was ran on the dyno through all gears and was kept @ 50 mph until the engine temp was up. Here are the procedures that the dyno technician did, this will be the same for all 9 runs.

1. 5th gear runs w/ 3 minute cool down periods (he actually used a stop watch)
2. After each install, he ran through all the gears and made sure the engine temp was up again. He was pretty adamant about keeping his procedure the same.

Hmm....Are you sure the A/C was off during the AEM run?

Question

Why 5th gear pulls? At the Stillen dyno day everyone was pulling in 4th. CMJ got high 240's in H.P. with just a $40 K&N drop in filter. Why are your numbers so low?

That's sarcasm right? I was trying to provide some actual comparison results and the dyno technician did every run as identical as he could. If AEM came out on top then I would have kept that, but it didn't. It could be that AEM uses way smaller piping than Injen. I think Injen is 3.50" at the MAF and AEM is like 2.75". And it looks like they put more effort in building the 350Z intake than AEM does.

But in the end...the results speak for themselves.

5th gear is 1:1 ratio

Also, dynos measure differently- I did a dyno up here in the bay area at ATP and pulled 242 hp- when my car ran at Stillen day I ran a 254hp (no change in bolt ons).

The important thing is that he did all the runs on the same dyno on the same day.

i dont have the aem, so where does the aem filter sit? doesnt the injen filter show through the front grill? i mean, if you have a big fan blowing in the front of the car where the injen filter is, then its gonna produce more hp.

again, i dont have the aem so i dont know if the filter is exposed like the injen filter......but from my past experience with aem, they usually run the filter just in front of the wheel well.

good little experiment tho

Default Thanks for the dyno runs

Its good to see when people do dyno runs, and I thank you guys for taking the time and sharing your results.

I do have a few questions though if you don't mind..

1) I notice the Baseline is done around 1pm and the AEM and INJEN at 11pm are the times right?

2)Did you guys install the new intakes after baseline, did you take the car off the dyno? or did you just immediatly do pulls as soon as you put the intake on?

3)I'm assuming you did 3 pulls for each baseline, injen and aem?

4)Did you pull the negative battery cable off at any points?

5)How were the fans placed? Directly at the INJEN filter?

Sorry for all the questions its just I think testing intakes is harder to get a good result compared to exhausts. I believe NISMO claims around 4hp for the AEM type intake wink wink hint hint. So I think NISMO is fairly honest with their dyno numbers so who knows.

Anyways like I said great job and I look forward to hearing from you!

Thumbs up All 3 are in the 11th hour

StrictlyZ,

Stock Run at 11:07PM if you look closely.

Thats a good thing to look for but the printed time for the stock run looks faded and missing one of the digits.

are there any plans to make some kind of shielding for the filter on the injen? it seems to get dirty way too quickly.
