Default Plenum vs Spacer

It looks like most people recommend the MD spacers as the best plenum upgrade. I've also seen a lot of disappointment with the Kinetix SSV on NA engines. Is that because it isn't better than the spacer even though its more expensive or because it isn't better than stock?

I think the SSV is very cool lokking, and if it works as well as a spacer, I'd consider it, despite the price difference, but if the spacer actually works better, then it would be a no brainer.

Any advice?

BTW, I don't race and the car is a daily driver.

The spacer will be cheaper than the plenum obviously. As you know, both serve the same purpose (to equalize the height). The issues with the various plenum spacers available has to do with if you can use the stock strut bar. If you google "350z plenum spacer" you'll find some links to sites that compare prices and the need for a new strut bar vs. the stock one.

you've obviously been here too long... The length of time between "reposts" defines if they really are one....(imo, I just gotta look at it that way.)

The best answer will come from Kinetix. Give them a call.

If you look into the spacers, i know that the PURE one allows you to utilize your stock strut bar and engine cover (i think).

plz be a lil more specific as to what is your real question...
as far as the polishing, OP mentioned the ssv for the sake of looks, the polishing should make his stock plenum much nicer...its a nice touch of bling, which was something that concerned me.
As far as the spacer, i mean just click on the link, you wont be dissapointed.

Why + buy this spacer over another one? For example, better value, better performance, better manufacture?

I should think the question is pretty damn obvious, dude. If you propose Product A instead of Product B, what is your reason?

W/o justification, you may as well not post any response at all.

better manufacture? CHECK!

Ok, one issue is price - pretty good price. Problem is 3/8" > 5/16" and my STB states with stock VQ plenum I can only use 5/16th plenum spacer.

I see they include spacers for the STB, that's nice but I'd have to make sure I'm not hitting the hood if I jacked up the STB even 1/16-1/8".

Price is always a good reason all things equal, one of my turnoffs to the MD spacer is to me they charge quite a lot for their product.

Fit's pretty tight in there, but if the STB isn't already hitting the padding on the hood it should be OK.

+1

All good reasons! Like that they include the coolant bypass and spacers for the STB.

Thanks, well worth a look.

it doesnt hit... you have to adjust your stock sturt bar a lil, but it wont hit. There are a few threads of people that though had a problem with it but went back and got their sturt bar to fit well.
You are also getting better price for a better material piece, its a full cnc milled billet piece, the pre-sealed gasket is a nice touch too

Btw it this is your Z33, and might I add what a sweet ride (!) you may want to update your mods if you don't use the MD spacer yourself

The Kinetix plenum clears the stock strut brace via included spacers that go under the brace mounting tabs. They are about 1/4" thick. I would imagine that you could use them with any adjustable length aftermarket brace as well, but probably not the fixed length models, due to the change in geometry.
