Default We are listening..Injen SES

We know the SES makes great power. We know it is loud (many exhausts are loud). We know many people want straight tips. We made straight tips now and we are working on lowering the dB. The car is on the lift and hopefully we can quiet it down without sacrificing HP. The point is we are listening to you. What matters is that we try to make everybody happy.

I know the deciding factor for me in *not* getting the Injen SES exhaust was the crooked tail pipes. Others on this forum have also asked if Injen offered the exhaust with the tips coming straight out of the back. Maybe adding a few additional bends to straighten out the tips will also lower the sound level a bit without affect HP gains and win over those that didn't like the angled tips...

Default NEW SES REQUEST

HEY rtakashima,
Straight exit pipes(not angled): Personally i would love the pipes to be straight. One thing to keep in mind for the new SES design would be to offer the 1st generation owners the option of converting their existing SES to straigtht ends. This way we 1st gen owners don't have to buy an entirely new cat-back system. I think this would make a lot of people happy.
As for the new SES: Increasing the pipe width from 2.5" to 3-4" would be great. My .02.

1. It is a new release, not a replacement. There would be no way to convert. Like a car, you sell the old and buy a new one. However, I am sure there are people that are quite happy with the angled. It is just preference.

2. We made HP by testing the diameter. We could increase the diameter but do you really want less HP? Some people think bigger is better but we let the dyno determine the diamter, the bends, etc. We try several combinations to come out with the best part.

3. We will think of something for those that want to buy the straight that already purchased the angled. No promises. We'll do what we can. Perhaps a rebate.

Thanks for the suggestions. Hope I addressed your post.

For me sound doesn't matter, as long as it doesn't sound like a fart can. But my god, the tips are fugly on the current system. I really like the stock style, maybe something like that would be nice. ie: the borla route.

Borla has a great system along with a great reputation. We wanted a unique style. Some like it, some don't. We will make something a bit more "mainstream" while still keeping the "Injen" style. If you like the Borla style, I suggest buy the Borla style. Our main focus was stainless inside and out and more importantly, dyno proven performance. I think the new release will be what everybody asked for. I will post an update with dB readings sometime this weak.

personally, I didn't buy the injen because of the angled tips, but don't get me wrong... definitely glad that there's companies out there like injen doing things a little different and putting time and effort to pull hp out of the VQ... everything's about personal preference and taste... it goes a long way with customers if you listen to their complaints... thanks for cruising the boards... now if only nissan would do the same.

How about a Ti version for the people who would like some weight reduction.
I know that you guys just branched into the exhaust scene, but when looking for an exhaust one of my big selling points was if it was Ti or not.

Off topic but......I just bought the INJEN SES exhasut and and giving it to my shop to put it on this week. Are there silencers included with the Injen exhaust? If so, how do I make sure that they don't get put on. (I opened up the box and din't see any)

Trust me, and from experience, don't put it on!!!! If the silencers came w/ the system, put them away. Don't even let your exhaust see or touch them!!!

How and what methods did you use to remove them? That's one of the items I'm doing this weekend. I've already tried using pliers to take them out but was unsuccessful. Thanks, any info would be greatly appreciated.

It's good to know you're listening. I should have the money for exhaust at the end of the summer, so i suppose i'll wait and buy whenever you get your straight tips out. awesome...

I had to use a broom handle with a nail in it. I hooked the presilencer from the back and tapped it out. It's a PAIN. But it will come out.
